Come on. Could you blame anyone for thinking it would be bad? Anyone who plays it is in for a pleasant surprise but it's like the game tried it's best to keep you away from it with it's marketing.

I've heard good things about it and that the whole jumping aspect adds a bit of odd strategy that isn't present in most similar games. I doubt it's as good as XCom simply because XCom has a shitton of content, but it sounds like the game got the Mario fun and polish put into it. As such, I can assume that it is good and likely a nice entry game into the genre.

My biggest concern is that Ubisoft is going to attempt to whore the game out with microtransactions and character skins within a few months, though, so enjoy the game while it is still (mostly) clean and pure. Not even Nintendo games are immune to the DLC buttfuckery which is common these days.

Looks legitimately good. Saw some people complaining about the lack of accuracy range (it can only be 0%, 50% or 100%, as far as I cant tell), but it sounds like a positive in my book.

I finished it yesterday, have been completing extra challenges today to get 100%.
I enjoyed it a lot. Rabbid Luigi is broken once you get the Vampire Dash.

However I find that keeps it simple and easy to get into for people not fully into the genre or even kids that may want to play the game.

I think the game play is great and the combos and stuff are fun, however my only real complaint so far would be that I can only use 3 party members, but I think it should be 4. Unless that gets unlocked later on and I haven't gotten there yet

This alone makes it feel way more strategic and less rng compared to Xcom.

well some characters also have abilities that help them get extra hits and things.
Like Rappid Peach has defense and healing to help her team mates and Mario has stuff like Hero Sight that gets him a free hit on an enemy that runs within his sight during their turn
The abilities can used only once, but like most games with these abilities you can really utilize them in some fun ways to own the battle

Do you think we'll see mods for Xcom 1 or 2 that find a way to bring in the 0, 50, 100 system from rabbids?

Xcom seems to have quite little mods for all the potential mods can bring. Stop working on an actually shit game on skyrim, modders

Once Luigi has gotten enough upgrades, he's ridiculous
>very high movement plus double jump allows him to move across the entire map
>long range main weapon that can inflict Ink
>long range sentry that home in and hit AoE inflicting Ink
>overwatch move that can hit 3 times per turn with only a single turn to recharge
Mario + Luigi + Rabbid Luigi are everything you'll ever need for the game.

Well there is your problem. Xcom looks boring as fuck to watch too, but actually fun to play. Rabbids and Mario do bring some new, quite interesting mechanics to the table that I think xcom can emulate
