You're totally right but every time Robotnik is on screen I can't help but laugh. The way he talks, rolls his r's and the crude way he is animated is just funny in a bad kinda way.

But yeah, SatAM was infinitely better in almost every way.

Nah. As a kid I liked the serious save the world setting; as an adult I still liked the serious save the world setting. SatAM's issue is that it lacked some of the sort of cheesy character-driven levity that made stuff like SA2's plot work and what seriousness it has is ultimately one-dimensional and thus rather shallow.

AoSTH is a tedious affair that flanderizes the concepts of the classic games into a generic saturday morning cartoon format and always has been.

If you want something stylistically and tonally close to the classic games, the Sonic OVA is quite literally the only good piece of animation sonic received from beginning to end.

this didn't get nearly as much attention as it deserved.
