Look at anyone who wears the coat, they tend to raise the hood when they travel as well as wear black gloves and shoes. It's like some sort of color coded protection and they use it to hide the entirety of their body.

Because for the original game he made a short advent children style video for after the credits which is nothing but a sequence without any intending meaning featuring a fight and some random engrish on the screen, and they continued the series by working backwards from there. So, genuinely, things like the entire plot of the second game come from that engrish such as "the third enemy is -NO BODY-"
