The thing that angers me most isn't that they're changing the game, change is a good thing. I'd expect it and welcome it in a remake. The problem is that what we've seen so far was complete, utter, and seemingly intentional disregard and for the lack of a better description, destruction of and for the source material.

I can only hope that when we're shown a updated version, all the mistakes the outsourced team they were originally using are fixed and we get a whole package deal. I genuinely didn't expect the same game again, what would be the point of a remake if so? What we were shown though is just a mockery of FF7.

For one because they're going for a more realistic aesthetic than the original. Also because it would be considered racist now. You can bet a bunch of other "iffy" scenes like the gay gangbang in the honey bee inn will also be removed.

But I suspect a lot of the other "weirder" or less realistic elements of the original will not return, such as a lot of the enemy designs. The general look-and-feel of the game seems to be based a lot more on compilation shit such as Advent Children than the original game. Like they're "updating" it to fit with the other FF7 media that's been released since then.

SE has a really fucking awful habit of announcing games the very second they decide to make them. Even now, the game is probably still in the planning phases and not in full production yet. So much is uncertain in the early stages of development, telling your customers ANYTHING is basically just setting yourself up for disaster because you don't even know if you will be able to get the game out, let alone if you can deliver any of the shit you're saying you will.
