Pretty good spread, and better than last season's in terms of quality players, too. The qualifiers were tough as fuck as well, Guemchi couldn't qualify and he did well last 2 seasons.

The only mirror matchup where that is true is ZvZ. PvP is less numbers heavy than TvT with reaver micro/scarab connects.

Personally, TvTs are either exciting or long and dull, similarly to how ZvZs are either incredible or over in 5 minutes.

I really like how we've seen a move back into wraiths and valkyries in TvTs because it's so much more fun to watch than endless lines of tanks sieging and unseiging with occasional vulture runbys.

I think PvP sits in the middle, and is more consistently entertaining, though not as likely to be really exciting or crazy as a ZvZ

I think they're randomized. When it gets to the ro16 they're done in a pick-by-pick system. The four seeded players from last season each pick one player for their group, then the picked player picks the next player, so on, till all groups are filled. The placement ceremony last year was fucking great because Shine was talking so much shit and offering deals and nobody paid him any attention cause everbody expected him to go out straight away, then he goes and rolls to the grand final.

I guess it's because valks are expensive, and once you've cleaned the air of wraiths, what do you do with them, hope to catch a dropship? They can't do anything but hunt wraiths. If your opponent knows you have valks, why would they going to continue pumping wraiths?

Goliaths are cheaper at least offer you some re-purpose after cleaning up wraiths since they can attack ground, albeit ineffectively. I guess the trick is to just have enough goliaths to stop wraith harass, but not to overcommit because nobody actually WANTS goliaths.

TvT is a serious mindgame where those bluffs can throw a whole game.

TvT air control seems to be balanced on a knife edge of having enough wraiths to disrupt your opponent, but not enough to cause him commit to full valk/turret/goliath, which makes your wraiths worthless. I love the whole mindgame of air/ground switches in TvT being dependant on what you think the other player is doing.
The best strat seems to be switch between pumping wraiths and ground units several times to constantly keep your opponent unprepared.

Zerg needs to tech up to counter the Terran. That said, I've seen Flash losing a handful of TvZ recently so maybe Z is getting the timing better.
