>that game that will always have a spot in your heart
What's her name, /v/? Starting with the plebbiest choice and obviously very foggy with nostalgia glasses, but I can't bring myself to dislike it. Couldn't ask for another game to spent a good chunk of my childhood with.

This and DKC. They both set the bar waay too high. Both are fucking huge, fucking memorable, beautiful, fun as fuck, fresh at each stage, lovable.

This. I'll defend this game forever. Also MGS2.

Same choice

All of Nintendo's first 3D outings are fucking GOAT. You can cry nostalgia, but at the same time, it's plain as day that their successors aren't half as good. Not as bold, not as adventurous. Formulaic. The list goes on. Nintendo may as well have stopped making video games altogether when Miyamoto stopped playing an active role.

These. I'm glad that I had a lot of friends with different gaming systems (PS1, PC...) as a kid, but personally I've come to realize that the N64 was an optimal 3D system for a child to grow up with.

Few years later, this babe came out, and revolutionized my (already survival-horror exposed) world. I must have replayed this gem some literal 40 times by now.

I have a lot of games, but I'm gonna go with this one mostly because of the negative reception it has kinda saddens me when it's not even a bad game (very far from it).

Basically my childhood
I never actually played either zelda when they first came out on the N64, I only did years later, when the game cube was a thing.

Wut? I know the collectibles placements were shit, but I recall the reception for the game being overwhelming positive.

nothing comes close to ocarina. a fucking single player game that i could play with my siblings, and the few friends i had at the time. that feeling of being absolutely engrossed in another world. that feeling when i finally feasted my eyes on Ganon's castle, and all the years it took me to get to that point. makes me cry when i think about it.

I have too many
>Ocarina of Time
>Super Mario 64
>Starbound
>Dark Souls/Bloodborne
>NieR: Automata
>Killer Instinct (SNES)
>Donkey Kong Country
>Civ V
>Starbound
>Halo 3
>Halo Reach
>The Talos Principle
>LISA
>Undertale
probably gonna get a lot of hate for some of the games on here
>>
>>389217776
DK64 was mostly shit on because the gameplay revolved around collecting.

>>
>>389217776
With the pass of time, DK64 has gained lots, LOTS of hate because of it's focus on collecting and gameplay revolving 5 characters. It's even called the reason why collectathons died.
I know the game has flaws, but it's not a bad game as people say, very far from it like I said.

One of the best oldies I can remember and still enjoy on the odd occasion is Crusader of Centy. Comfy as fuck every time. Typical themed JRPG but done well and not too full of itself. Great soundtrack, both smooth and heavy.

the game is great without nostalgia.
>>
>>389221297
But the OP didn't say " games you love because of nostalgia" now did he? Don't come to conclusions anon.

To keep this on topic, I've always loved Landstalker and will always cherish it. Not that many in on /v/ today would know about it.

Paper Mario. Legit get tears in my eyes anytime I hear shyguy's toybox. Honorable mention goes to Link to the past and Yoshi's Island for sucking up so many hours of my life.

I have a ton of nostalgic games. Off the top of my head:
>RE4
>FEAR
>COD4
>Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door
>Xenoblade Chronicles
>Dark Souls
>Most of the Pokemon games
>Probably a shit-ton more I'm forgetting at the moment.
It would be awesome to be a kid/early teen again, where all I had was time and video games. I always thought that it would be awesome to grow up, but now that I'm an adult, I fully realize how magical childhood was. I mean sure, it was mostly just me on YouTube and playing games, but fuck man, those were the times. I didn't waste time jerking off, watching porn, getting socially anxious, watching depressing shit on a daily basis, I was just living life without judgement. I guess everyone eventually grows out of that state at some point, but I can't help but wanting to just for a little while to relive being a kid again. Sorry if I'm typing like a retarded hippie, it's pretty late where I'm from.
>>
>>389223420
My words exactly, anon. I guess we should just be happy that we have things to feel nostalgic about. Very good taste in this thread btw, I'm glad.
>>
>>389223748
4chan can be pretty toxic at times, so that's why I like coming here when it's a bit late, all the shit-posters have usually left. Here we can share comfy tales of being kids, and actually talking about video games, a hobby most of us here have had since before we can remember.
BTW, thanks for complimenting my taste, I was a kid/teen through the 2000s, so that's why you see no retro games on there, I have played a ton, but they didn't really have an impact on me.

For some reason, it's OST always makes me feel nostalgic, even though I barely played the game when I was really young. I didn't want to play it because the CG box art scared me for some reason, same with Banjo-Kazooie. I guess I was getting uncanny valley sorta vibes from them.

Yoshi's Story is interesting in that regard, one one part you have colorful levels with happy music and all the cartoony sounds and overall aesthetic of the game makes it look harmless enough.
And then you have stuff like the no petal flower being terrified, slower music tempo with a Yoshi that barely moves, some insta-deaths like the lava, the engine level full of traps like the cogs, that fucking fish, all with that you have the game over/life lost where the toadies carry a crying Yoshi into his doom with creepy music playing.
