Don't insult my game by having it touch 3D Land. Sunshine has the best atmosphere, music, and most importantly, it is the best feeling 3D Mario game. The controls are so tight, they're basically vacuum sealed. And it was the only one after Mario 64 to retain the basest of based camera placement. That is, free cam which you control and follows you in a standard 3rd person fashion, unlike that Galaxy and 3D World shit that zoomed out at great distances or fixed you in a faux-sidescrolling manner. Hail to the 64/Sunshine/Odyssey gamefeel king.

7th & 8th gen are objectively worse. 5th gen was actually quite good. The only real complaint is how ugly and clunky the 3D games of the era were. And even then, late 5th gen 3D games almost rival early 6th gen. The 2D games of the era still look and play excellently today.

snes/genesis era was great, both good consoles, lot of games.
n64/ps1 era was great, both good console, lot of games.
ps2/gc/xbox era was great, all good consoles, lot of games.
wii/ps3/360 was mediocre. much less games due to big budgets, DLC and paid online got even more normalized, all are bad consoles compared to previous generations.
current gen is downright awful. very few games, most of which are bad games anyway. DLC hell and paid online is the standard. cash shops up the ass too.

the people who dislike the ps1/n64 gen are the same ones who praise last gen: children.

Few companies understood good game design until the 32-bit era, at which point people had to figure out how to design 3D games at low FPSes, with single analog sticks. They figured it out by 6th gen, arguably perfected it by 7th gen. That gen was when AAA went to shit but by that point gaming was so big that there were tons of options to choose from. This past year alone has been great whether you're a weaboo or westaboo.
