What's the /v/erdict?

Probably the best immersive sim that industry is capable of producing this day and age. And that's offensively depressing.

Great game, solid story / atmosphere, fun to explore the station, good voice acting, good aesthetic style. Interesting premise as well, my only criticism is that it's a bit too easy, even on the hardest difficulties.

Solid 8.5/10 game.

Shame it probably didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel...

The game is bad.

Pretty fun game but like 2/3 of the skills are totally useless. I think there's one room in the entire game that you actually need strength (any level) to access and there's nothing good in there anyway. The useful ones are stats, extra running/jumping, mimic form, and engineering/repair.

I played the demo.

Bioshock 1 style mechanics but roaming is promoted more (though still could have been more expansive). One of the key elements that should have been expanded on in Bioshock.

It has no atmosphere. the ending is literally "it was all a dream" the story makes no sense the colectathon style gameplay feels like ass. music is garbage with way too much "wooo spoopy" and jumpscare stingers. at best it's mediocre.

I just saw that the game SOMA is on sale on Steam. I haven't played either games, but they look like some kind of Bioshock type of games.

Anyways, I would really love to try SOMA, but I don't have a credit card to buy on Steam. The game is only $5, which is a steal if I look at the reviews.

Can anyone get it for a poor fag like me?

SOMA isn't like Bioshock, it kind of tricks you into thinking it is, but it's more of an adventure / door opening game. Think of Amnesia without the shitty jumpscares, and where everything would happen underwater.

It's good nonetheless though, I'm just saying, don't be disappointed if you get it.

Oh yeah, the whole part of going through the guts was terrible filler. I didn't appreciate that at all. Flying around in 0 gravity was cool outside the station because you couldn't tell what was up or down or what but in the guts with a hundred thousand of those little proximity bomb things and having to find keycards..
The gardens/executive area had a couple of neat bits but having all the enemies respawn between each and every section was a huge pain too.

it's happened multiple times, one of the most notable being the creator of RISE:son of rome personally shilling constantly then apologizing for it when the game flopped. there are screencaps of it.

and all enemies apart from mimics are just poorly designed and horribly balanced (they are too easy, even on the hardest dificulty.)

Great game. My biggest complaints are the lack of weapon and enemy variety. Most of the game I was fighting the same two monsters with the same two weapons.
