Truly addicted? When I first got XBOX LIVE in 2005. First time I played a game online. Halo 2. I neglected all my friends and stopped leaving the house. I dabbled in MMOs a couple times but my PC was shitty and even though I for some reason am drawn to the idea of MMOs they're always so fucking boring to play.

I've been playing the KOF mobile games for over 100 days in a row now so there's that.

Before that it was Persona 4 Golden, I played it almost non stop for a week and it made me ill, I was skipping meals and stopped bathing.

I spent the whole weekend playing Shutokou Battle for PSP, but now I'm fine

I'm so fucking ashamed to admit this, but Destiny. I've played other games for far longer, but that's the last game I remember where I was still playing even after I knew I hated it. I had this unstoppable compulsion to log on and do all of the weekly shit after the Tuesday reset and I started to look forward to it in the same way you would look forward to going to work the next day.

City of heroes, tf2, havent touched either in years.

Spent months playing this game and almost accomplished my goal of becoming a Necromancer until I realized I started coming home from work to what felt like even more work.

The learning process and all of the knowledge I gained about the game was fun but when I needed to get other players to work together to help me I didn't see any fun in the game anymore.

In terms of multiplayer, CS:GO. I was sickly addicted to that shit-heap of a game, and I regret all 500 hours I sunk into it. What made me stop initially was the frustration that I wasn't getting any better, but what kept me off of it was when I looked and realized what a bad game it was. I was so caught up in getting good that I didn't take a step back to see if I was actually enjoying myself, and while I did have a bunch of fun moments, the negatives did outweigh those.

In late 2014 I dropped out of college and fell into a deep depression. I got into two things to pass the time (my schedule was flipped, going to sleep at 8-11 AM).
I dove deep into music and into surfing on counter strike:GO (eventually moving to Source). At one point I found myself surfing 18-20 hours a day. Barely able to sleep. It's the most fun I've ever had in gaming. I've never been great at it or anything. No world records set by me. But I love that game more than anything else I can think of.
At a time where I was useless and defeated it made me feel valid.

I honestly can't explain why surfing makes me feel so good but it's role in my life is a great example to me of some of the therapeutic applications gaming can have.

I'm currently addicted to Final Fantasy XIV. Called in sick a couple days ago just to play it all day long. Thinking about calling in sick tomorrow just to play it all day long again.

Game before that was Black Ops 3 zombies mode. I've got around 350 hours in zombies mode alone.

Game before that was Dark Souls. Bought it when it first came out and played it for 3 days straight without sleep. I even beat the game with an SL1 character.

sadly it was ff14. I played it for like 7 hours a day for about half a year. I think it was becuase it was the first MMO I've played in years since I quit EVE. Even upgraded my computer for it. In the end I didn't spend a whole lot of money in it though, just the base game and HW for 25 bucks and then sub for 5 more months.

I quite when I got bored of grinding end game.

Back when Skyrim first came out, I truly was addicted to that game. It was ridiculous. Wake up, play before school, come home, play until dinner. Rinse and repeat. There was actually one time where the boiler downstairs CAUGHT ON FIRE and I was sitting around playing Skyrim while my family went to put out the fire. They come back upstairs a few minutes later like "What the fuck! There was a fire downstairs!"
That's when I knew I had a problem

I've had my share of addictions along the years
League of legends for thousands of hours, HoN for thousands of hours, Dota 2 fo roughly 1400 hours, warframe for 800 hours, binding of isaac for 600 hours, path of exile for 1800 hours

And no, it's not time that has racked up every now and then, when I've picked up the games, I've been addicted to them for that very few thousand hours, then got bored of them and picked up a next one.

Apart from the extreme grind required to unlock the highest tiers, which isn't too bad, as playing in Tier 2-3 can be just as fun, this game really turns me off by the long time spent to get back into any kind of action after respawning.

The downtimes between short bursts of action are just too long. As you get better and die less, this gets mitigated a bit. But even then it is a source of annoyance. Just spawning people right into the thick of battle is not a good idea, either, since it would just create one big chaotic zerg and respawns would be used up in a matter of minutes.

I mostly play the tank mode, and when I go for planes I usually play heavier bombers. So that may contribute to my impression of sluggishness.

Breath of the Wild, every time a new mainline Zelda game since Wind Waker comes out the only things I do are go to work and play Zelda until I beat it one or two times. When Breath of the Wild came out I was just packing in on that shit, spent like 5 good weeks doing all the shit in it twice in different orders before putting it down.
I actually don't give a shit about the DLC for some reason, I guess I'm just burnt out of the game and probably won't pick it up again for a couple years.
