I thought Life is Strange would be some shitty gay shit for stupid teen girls but I played it and it was actually really fun, much moreso than Telltale games or Gone Home.
This prequel has better characterisation than the original game, but it it does lack any actual puzzles which is somewhat disappointing.

I was popular enough back in school, I'll have you know. And even if I were a friendless teenage neckbeard it wouldn't change the fact that LiS has a story about two unlikable and unengaging girls with a poorly developed relationship, a town full of forgettable people, a mystery that could not be more dull if it tired and time powers that feel tacked on and unexplored as though they only exist to make LiS different from Telltale games and the like. Honestly, though I don't like to assume too much about what kind of people will and will not enjoy something, the only way I can see someone enjoying this is someone who was a friendless teenage neckbeard who's trying to vicariously re-live highschool except this time they're a magical girl, she even has a really bland personality for you to self-insert to. The only praise i see for this are the OST, atmosphere and "feels", buy the OST, in my opinion just sounds like generic hipster music, but then I don't know much about music so I won't say it's outright bad, it was just nothing special for me, the atmosphere is ruined by the awful writing which will frustrate anyone with more than one brain cell to the point that it invades the atmosphere to a point that kills any feelings of comfort and the only emotional moments in the thing range from being pathetic at worst and ineffective at best. Maybe there's some key piece that fits all of this together and makes LiS something more than the trainwreck that I see at as, but I just don't think I have it in me to see what anyone outside of a small and pathetic group of people enjoy about this trash.

That's not how the industry works. Publishers are a business, and when they see new successful trends, they want to cash in. Even (and especially) when it means they take away resources from their more conventional properties. Browser and mobile games have most definitely had a negative impact on the industry. Corporatism is not about co-existing interests, it's about maximizing the bottom line, and the cheapest and laziest way to do that is just to copy whatever's popular.

Also if we judged works like Gone Home and Life is Strange the way people who agree with that image actually want them to be judged, the games would fall flat on their face. They're only praised BECAUSE of the contrast. The standards are quite low.

The "game" is just shit. I played through it on my playstation since I got it for free as part of my PS+ subscription and I have to say the ending was Mass Effect 3 levels of horrible. But what's worse is that the ultimate decision hinges on the players actually caring about one of the objectively most shit characters in the entire game. Not even mentioning all the bugs and glitches I encountered while playing.

The voice acting is horrible and the lip sync is worse. Plus, the graphics are just shit. This is a modern game where a game like Until Dawn exists in the same vein yet looks substantially better.
