That's my main gripe with Knight's story dlcs because they were just scenarios barely connected by narration from whatever character is supporting you. Matter of Family was the closest to Quinn's Revenge quality. The audicity of making season of Infamy dlc was pure moneygrubbing because those actually had connection to City's hanging plotlines. Shit Harley's Revenge wasn't even necessary to overall story and you could enjoy City without it.

have been playing through the Arkham games (except for Origins) for the first time in the last few weeks.

Loved Asylum and City, but Knight feels really shitty. I absolutely HATE the Batmobile and the endless, copy-paste tank battles. The Arkham Knight and his soldiers are shit villains, way inferior to Joker, Penguin etc. and their henchmen in the first 2 games. The skill system in Knight feels bloated and unnecessary and the game world has no flair and identity. At the end of City, I basically knew every nook and cranny of Arkham City, in Knight I just follow the directions the Batmobile gives me.

Since I don't really know stuff about Batman outside of the Nolan movies and the things basically everyone knows about him, I had no idea who Jason Todd is until the hallucinations Batman has in the Movie Studio part of the game (which immediately made me think "alright, this Jason Todd guy definitely is the Arkham Knight").

-Asylum still has problems in the scarecrow scenes where with physx enabled the fps just tanks

-City still has performance problems in DX11 unless you're having a card that is vastly superior to the top ones that were around when it launched

You show up to island at the end of some unnamed adventure to turn in the joker, plot hits the fan, and by the end its all wrapped up and jokers in custody as police arrive to take control. I have so many memories of what happens during Asylum but barely remember anything of City. And I played Asylum in 2010 & City in 2015. City is pretty forgettable... haven't played any of the other games yet though

Asylum blew me away though. Not only was it a good game in a different media franchise (a rarity) but a good game in its own damn right. You could take Batman out of it in its entirety and replace it with something completely original and it would still be a good game.

This series could be consolidated into two 11/10 games:

1. Arkham Asylum with minimal changes, except better bossfights and maybe one more explorable building/area.

2. Arkham Knight with a better main storyline, better side missions, and time progression. I like the idea of going back to the Batcave at preset points to move the story forward a few days/weeks. It removes the 40 hours=one night issue and would let us see Gotham move from late autumn into winter. They could take the best bits of City, Origins, and Knights then trim the crap.

That game had so many plot elements going on at once, that my brain shut down, and I pretty much forgot the entire story past the first act aside from some bits and pieces. I imagine in "writer's school" for union hacks it's taught as some sort of crutch for finding direction after the second installment. Quite often it turns out that *gasp moment* the villain now for the third installment was the villain all along. It's basically a cheap way to make the whole trilogy feel "cohesive" in some way and establish the villain as the most villainous because he was the master villain from way back in the first thing. It's such a common trope that it can't be a coincidence that a bunch of writers have leaned on it to come up with a story.

It's likely because:
1. By the time the third installment comes around the first one is old enough to be "nostalgic" for the creators and fans.
2. The above stuff.
3. Evolving a story from a story already evolved from the first story is probably more intensive.

Kudos for Back to the Future trilogy for completely going off into some oddball thing for their third film while the second was the one that was the homage to the first.

Honestly, for as much as I want another Batman game from Rocksteady, I really want them to make a survival horror game. I think they could make a great psychological horror game.

Out of all the villains, Mad Hatter in City to me was the scariest out of all of them. Best batsuit coming through. I love to pretend that this was the definitive batsuit in the game. The main one (Iron Batman) looks cool, but as an alternate skin, not like the main suit.

Batman uses him when he doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

the red hood is a cool character and did nothing wrong.

I have very mixed feelings when it comes to Knight, as it has some really good ideas but some really baffling decisions made.

Some Bad stuff:
>Deathstroke battle is a rehash of a fucking tank battle.
>Batmobile STEALTH segments
>The obvious plot twist with Arkham Knight
>Having Jack Ryder in the final game and NOT make him the Creeper.
>The PC port at launch ( I still 100% the game before it got fixed desu)
>Hushs storyline from Arkham City totally wasted and fizzled out in AK as the side mission was boring as fuck.

Some neat stuff:
>Joker hallucinations were fun, and the playable segment at the end was a great set piece.
>Your chosen Batsuit always appear in cutscenes, as nothing was prerendered.
>A good portrayal of Proffessor Pyg
>You can visit the villains at the cells at the Police station and chat with them
>Some of the DLC missions were actually better than the base games mission. Can be seen as good or bad, because I think it should have been included in the base game but its nice we got it nonetheless.
>Manbat was actually spoopy.

If you would have told me that a game where HEY IT'S THE JOKER REMEMBER THE JOKER HAVE SOME MORE JOKER was not only a big part of the game, but also some of the best parts of the game, I would have called you a liar.
