What makes the GOG client so special?
GoG is superior in every way but around 70% of content will never be available for sale through it because going completely DRM free isn't going to fly with most publishers/developers.
Steam is shit, but also convenient and still maintains top position of similar platforms and DRM schemes.

gog got better distribution, no drm, you don't need to use their launcher and doesn't ask you for your phone number every time you're going to look for new games
