Make sure to write a cover letter giving some reason you want the job, just google one and plug in your own shit, two or three days after submitting your application be sure to do a follow up call, just say you want to make sure your application was recieved correctly and ask when you can expect to hear back from them, sometimes they'll just go ahead and set up an interview right then. I did that too, but it turned out the person interviewing me was a hobby psychologist or something, and appearently thought I was the most interesting dude ever. Would have gotten the job too, but suits in management didn't let her and her colleagues hire me, because I was young and that would look bad on statistics, so they hired some geezer in his 40s with almost no qualifications because that would raise the average employee age to an acceptable level. This was 3 years ago, I'm still mad.

I got a job at a large company and all I got was a referral from my brother's friend who also works there. They probably didn't give a shit about the referral since the company was so large. I did not graduate from college and all I have is sticking to the same job for 10 years. Sorry I don't have any sound advice, gotta keep trying I guess.
