MW1 was a good game, it was a breath of fresh air for FPS at the time, but it's gameplay has infected the FPS genre so perniciously that it gets alot of hate here.

What surprises me the most is when people(on /v/) are shocked when I say that something like Titan Fall 2 is basically Modern Warfare, but faster. It's like they haven't played an FPS before 2007. The gameplay of TF2 is in the same neighborhood as MW1 while something like Quake or Doom is in a completely different city.

You can't really do something of that scale with just one character/set of characters surviving such a grand scale of important battles in a "realistic" setting, it'll always feel a little goofy.
