The games are fun enough but there are too many cues to action. One of the greatest things about Tomb Raider was wandering around jungles, caves or tombs, accompanied by nothing but ambient noise and footsteps, then, all of a sudden, some animal or trap would come out of nowhere and scare the piss out of you.

I loved hearing all of Lara's little gasps and grunts of pain. Watching her try to climb up a cliff and whispering to herself, "You can do this..." was adorable, and watching her slip down a hill or something a few minutes later was also endearing.

The OG games had a sense of wonder and exploration, together with some terrifying levels. Also none of the exploration, combat and platforming held my hands like I was a down's child.

This current one is an on-rails Uncharted with an almost equally unlikeable character who mutters to herself the stupidest shit, and you should take a long look at yourself in the mirror for enjoying such meaningless tripe.

I don't care how Lara looks and the new games aren't bad, but I much prefer the old formula for level design, the really huge puzzle areas and the feeling of exotic adventures. I don't know how to play the very first games because of the overly precise tank controls but I love their atmosphere and design. Anniversary was so good, I also loved the other two early Crystal Dynamics games, although they were already signs of trendy bullshit and negative publisher influence like all the QTE in Legends or how unfinished Underworld felt. Reboot had some qualities but it was so bland, had no charm or sense of wonder. Why did they have to ripoff Uncharted? The TR2 remake looks much better than the new ones.

I liked Lara's personality on Anniversary. She doesn't go to tombs because of money or fame, she does it because she is an adrenaline junkie.
Playing through the TR2 remake demo made me really hope for a TR3 remake, one of my favorite TR games.

Anniversary > Underworld > TRLR = TR3 > Legend > Angel of Darkness > Chronicles
The others I didn't play, sadly. I need to get to them.

I consider TR to be among the most successful reboots as in the series is not completely butchered. The old games are arguably more enjoyable but they are severely flawed. For one combat was a complete joke whereas the new uncharted combat is at least somewhat playable. If they just tone up the platforming a bit it would be unarguably better than Uncharted.
