There's not a single plot point in MGS4 that I believe adds to the overall plot of the series. I went through every game in order, getting my mind blown in each one until I got to MGS4 and I suddenly had to ask myself what the fuck they were thinking. It just tries to shit all over the plot and context the previous 3 games established.
