Let's get another thread going. Post mains and concerns. I'll answer questions too I guess.

>Concerns
I don't really like any of the new characters, but like the idea of this as a franchise, and if it takes off this time around there may be mons I like more added.

What was added apart form 5 mons, and team battle, I need to know if I can justify myself buying it again
>>
DX
>>
>>389150472
Online lobbies, replays, and some minor new single-player stuff (probably not enough to make it super boring).

Lobbies sound really cool though, up to 100 man lobbies. If you're into playing online that'd probably be a selling point. Replays are good if you're dedicated to improving and want to watch your matches to mentally (or physically) note what you need to work on.
>>
>>389150798
>100 man lobbies,
That sounds like it could go wrong easily, it worked fine in Arms, and KoF XIV, less well in Tekken 7 (if you count tourney as lobby mode), and even worse in DoA5 as there was a lot of waiting around and only one match in a time
>>
>>389151448
Probably not going to be only one match at a time. I trust in Bamco. You can also spectate in these lobbies which is cool. Online tourneys will be a lot easier to run.
>>
>>389150226
Give opinions of the 3v3 mode.
>>
>>389151923
not my cup of tea, I'm a solo main and can't get into any other character. hope it stays to side events and doesn't become competitive standard.
>>
>>389152124
who do you play?
>>
>>389152250
Would rather not say, would reveal a bit too much.

Lower end character though.
>>
What do you think the chances are training mode will get improved
>>
>>389151923
Team Battle was one of the better modes in DoA, Tekken, and Soul cal, to the point where I'm still disappointed they took it out of the latter two.
Plus it's a good way to try a lot more units at once, as in the Wii U one I felt like I was locked to the same mon throughout story, and could only swap in free battles
>>
>>389152342
Not too high, TPC wants to keep everything as simple as possible. We as a community have to trudge through 60 fps footage to try and record frame data but we'll never know that it'll be accurate, but TPC would never let visible frame data into their games. I feel the same way about training mode, any more improvements would be too "complex" and "overwhelming" for younger players.
>>
>>389152342
I thought the training was pretty good, especially by fighting game standards, free training, command training, and dial-a-combo, what more were you hoping for?

>>389152324
I'm pretty sure I know who this is, but I can't play them for shit, do you have any tips? Assuming Gardevoir, but I'd take tips for Cune, Libre, Weavile, or Champ all the same
>>
>>389153084
Actually none of those. Libre and Weavile are higher tier, Champ is about mid-tier. I unfortunately don't play anyone but my one character so I could offer no good advice.
>>
>>389152324
Ouroboro?
>>
>>389153353
I wish
>>
>>389153234
Oh I was sure it was Gardevoir, as that and Libre seemed the only choices that could get somebody teased, except perhaps Braxiken who I thought was high-tier because of the guy who won evo to try and get more porn of her
>>
>>389153858
That same guy won the World Championships this year, he's pretty fucking good. His Braixen playstyle got nerfed in arcade and onwards though, I think he plays Croagunk in arcade and will likely continue with Gunk in DX; he only pulls out Braixen for Wii U 1.3 since that was before the nerfs (that were overall very minor, just directly impacted him).
>>
>>389153353
I think I know who he is but I'm not gonna say it out of respect for him clearly not wanting it to be said.

>>389152494
I don't even really think we need like, visible hitboxes or exact frame data lists, I just fucking want a record function so I can tell the CPU to use a specific move and not just 5y
>>
>>389154136
Thank you based Anon.

As for training mode, I admittedly almost never use it. I much prefer learning in the moment and in the heat of gameplay, though there are somethings I'd like to practice in training mode like lowstancing Earthquake from both SM2 and Chomp on reaction. I've got a lot of stuff in my muscle memory but I've got to work on more; a better training mode would help with that.

Make Field Phase something engaging and not a punishment please.
>>
>>389154520
What about it makes it feel like a punishment to you? It's the prime phase to build meter.
>>
>>389154642
It slows the game down and nobody likes it.
>>
>>389155258
I dunno about nobody. It makes the game unique and not just a watered-down Street Fighter. Field phase is different since most characters don't have an anti-air and it's much more zoning and spacing-focused. If you're character is super rushdown you have to play Mario Maker and dance around everything while building meter and trying to trigger a shift.
>>
>>389155353
Yeah well you're a nerd.
t. Lucario Main that got to B in wii u
>>
The Fields should be handled like School of ragnarok where it's automatic and based on distance.
>>
>>389155457
Getting to B isn't that impressive/something to brag over. Pretty much anybody that just plays the game can get to upper C's/Lower B's; and even people who are upper B's/in A's aren't nesscarily even people who are hot shit either.
>>
>>389156235
That's why the post was made in a humorous fashion.
>>
>>389155457
Please. I'm S-Rank on Wii U and I really don't give a shit about online. My offline results have a lot to be desired so that's what I'm focused on.

>>389156454
Oh that was in humorous fashion. I'm bad at catching on. Hope to see you play DX though. Maybe we could get /v/ lobbies going or something.
>>
Anyone else thinks the game is too complex for it's ow good, especially for a beginner friendly game?
>dimension shifts are confusing
>two meters to build
>two assists
So much is going on and it feels a bit like a mess. Gonna pick this game up when it launches. Seems fun enough.
>>
>>389156949
I think the tutorial does a decent enough job at getting the basics down, you're only actively building one meter since Support just builds over time. It's definitely a fun game that you just learn over time. Each and every character is unique so there's a lot to learn about the finesses and how to play against each individual character. The fighting game grind is just as real in Pokken as it is in any other fighter.
>>
>>389157128
It's probably managable over time, I just prefer more focused and elegant game design.
>>
>>389157826
Fighting games more or less have never been the most elegant. Always something gritty you've got to sit down and learn unless you're playing something super early like Street Fighter II or something designed for super easy accessibility like Fantasy Strike.

Never played the original Pokken. How good is Gengar? Thinking about maining it and Scizor.
>>
>>389158386
Meta.
>>
>>389158117
SF2 is a complex game but does not really have that many mechanics. That's why I like it.
>>
>>389150226
>concerns
That it'll be dead in a month. Nintendo has saturated the Switch with too many multiplayer games at once
>>
>>389158386
Gengar differs a lot based on the scene: He tends to be placed on the lower end of the tiers by NA players, but the JP scene has him placed on the higher end of things.

He's a pretty complex character since a lot of his tools revolve around the fact a lot of his moves and movement have iframes you need to abuse to make the most of.
>>
>>389158702
The WiiU game still has a good amount of players to this day, I don't think you'll have to worry about not being able to find matches for at least 2-3 years.
>>
>>389158386
I think Gengar is very much based on mind-games and tricking your opponent into high-punish moves
>>
>>389158386
Japan thinks he's good, Japan has good Gengars. NA thinks he's bad because NA doesn't really have any prominent Gengars. Solid choices, Gengar's more difficult than the average character though. Astonish loops and all that.

>>389158702
Wii U game literally had a 20k pot tourney last month. The Pokemon Company will keep us monetarily afloat, already confirmed to return to next year's World Championships. We'll be fine man, don't be so pessimistic. Our pessimism phase is over.
>>
>Concerns
You'll charge back the evo fund again lmao get fucked.
>>
Can you select stages in lan mode now.
>>
>>389159969
Literally wasn't anyone deeply involved in our community, two Anons who had passable interest in the game who said they would chargeback if we lost.
>>
>>389160121
I actually have no idea. I bet someone out there knows.
>>
>>389159969
Marvel had chargebacks too
>>
>>389160414
That's what really killed the game for me, only legal stage in tournaments, no counter picking available. What horseshit.
>>
>>389160464
Nah lmao get fucked.
>>
>>389160510
There's something called Fixed Battle Arena which is kind of like Omega Mode from Smash 4. All stages are kind of repurposed to appear the same way but physically be identical to Ferrum Stadium. There's no need to counterpick in Pokken imo, Ferrum Stadium is a perfect stage that just gets grating after hundreds of tournaments. Fixed Battle Arena should spice things up. Counterpicking is an unnecessary hassle that some want to shove in because of Smash.
>>
>>389160589
Anon, I literally watched their donation count go down when the donation campaign was going on.
>>
>>389160694
Some stages are perfectly legal but have different dimensions that help some low level zoners like Gengar and Chandy. I see no reason for them to be outright banned.
Fixed Battle Arena is pretty nice though.
>>
>>389160694
>There's something called Fixed Battle Arena which is kind of like Omega Mode from Smash 4. All stages are kind of repurposed to appear the same way but physically be identical to Ferrum Stadium.

Oh shit when was this announced?
>>
>>389160781
Sorry I was too busy seeing Pokken's go down 20 grand.
>>
>>389160924
The fuck are you talking about, it never went down that much. Pokken went down from 66k to 60k
>>
>>389160902
Just something some people pointed out on the LAN connection screen if I recall correctly.

>>389160835
It's helpful to some zoners but at the same time it could heavily determined the outcome of a match. Blaziken or Machamp versus Chandelure in Haunted Mansion compared to the same matchup on Neos City are wildly different outcomes (in theory). It's too volatile, better to keep things simple imo
>>
>>389161230
>>389160924
Actually it didn't even go down that much: the final number for pokken was 66k.

If it had gone down by 20k, as you said, then it originally would have ended at 86k, which would have been ahead of marvel, but even when the deadline happened marvel was still ahead.

tl;dr you are full of shit
>>
I can't decide if I should buy a Switch for this.

I wish /v/ had an active scene for this game.
>>
>>389161909
/v/ may not but the core scene is actually very active.

I'm shilling pretty hard but you should definitely buy.
>>
why does the pokken controller only have a d-pad if there's a 3D phase?
>>
>>389154037
What exactly were these nerfs?
>>
>>389162194
3D phase still only uses 8-direction digital input, not analogue 360 degree movement.
>>
Why isn't [My favorite Pokemon] in this game?
>>
>>389150798
>Online lobbies

I wonder how it'll be, but fucking anything should be better than the original system.
>>
>>389162337
Off the top of my head I can only recall Duel Phase jY landing lag being increased, and he liked using that move a LOT, but I'm sure there's more. I don't know Braixen very well.
>>
>>389162412
Absol really needs to be in.
Needs a Zandatsu super
Need a hitmonchamp with a dempsy roll as well.
>>
>>389162412
Why isn't Noivern in this game in any way shape or form? I thought he was popular.
>>
inb4 Switch version is abandoned as badly as the WiiU version

inb4 Pokkenbowling
>>
>>389162412
Hitmontop would have been great, imagine a spinning top as a fighter. Heracross would be cool as well. Not to mention Incineroar, but I imagine people already bitched about the amount of fire types in the base game.
>>
>>389162846
Wii U version was never abandoned, just had a huge 20k pot tourney last month hosted by The Pokemon Company.

If support is only "muh characters" then you need help.
>>
I wanted Buzzwole.
>>
>>389162194
>>389162364
The Dpad actually works much better in pokken then an analog stick, back before I got the pokken pad and I used a WiiU pro controller, it was apparent pretty early on that the Dpad was better for it

>>389162846
but the WiiU version never got abandoned, you can still get matches online quickly
