That's an action platformer.

Wish they toned down the contact damage on some enemies, maybe it is the animation that plays that makes it seem you were hit by a truck when you just touch them as they walk, don't see why draw so many complex attack animations when they can just slam against you

I pirated the game and liked it a lot, but unfortunately it kept glitching and eventually I got bored before finishing and was too lazy to pirate an updated version (all of the glitches I got were also in the legit bought game before they were patched). I should probably play it again though with the patches.

The best recent platformer though, is definitely Ori and the Blind Forest, now that one was a huge surprise for me and I finished it twice (pirated the first edition and then bought the definitive edition because it was too good to pirate twice).

I got too frustrated by some of the spike areas and had to stop playing. Very cool game though.

The huge knockback and slow-mo got pretty grating. I think part of it is the push back when you attack an enemy, it threw out my judgement of the positioning. The no-push back charm really made the game feel better, but it takes a while to be able to get it.

Hollow Knight is a good metroidvania, but it's a bad platformer.
