Difference here being that for some reason the Wii U used the ancient PowerPC architecture for their CPU, which was largely abandoned even when the Wii U was being worked on. Nobody codes for PowerPC anymore, especially not for video games, so to make a Wii U port they'd have to hunt down one of the few people left on earth who know how to code for the damn thing, or educate their staff.
The Switch however is running an ARM chip, which is probably the most worked on architecture at the moment, seeing as every cellphone worth a damn is using it at the moment, so that's no longer an excuse.

I know Nintendo don't care about me. They mostly care about selling games, like every other games company, and they definitely do that by having a wider audience than just children or just adults.

What I don't understand is the brand loyalty that's incredibly strong with a lot of peopling in gaming. Anyone calling people Nintenbros or Sonybros are just as bad as each other. They're literally defending a corporation who sees them as little more than a sales figure.

I'd assume that Devs like working with similar hardware. The PC, Xbone, and PS4 might not be the same but they are at least close enough when it comes to designing a game that can run on all three.
