I was literally just thinking about this after playing No More Heroes with a keyboard and mouse. Suddenly it seems like a good idea.

i liked playing the drums. but couldn't stand the sound they made.

For console games maybe, but it's horrible on PC. I basically always have my Xbone controller plugged in and occasionally I'll pick it up while I'm playing Overwatch or something (most recently tried it with the Destiny 2 beta).
The fact is there is literally no situation in a game where you ever need to strafe slowly, which is the only benefit to analog movement. It's less precise in every conceivable way.

better for shooter games and games that require a lot of aiming, fighting games, and strategy games
equal to controllers for 2d platformers and other 2d games
worse for racing games and 3d platformers/any 3d game that really benefits from analog movement

I loved playing the drums
Worked at a vidya store many years ago and this fucking thing was there until that location closed. A year ago I walked into another location and saw it on the shelf.
