I built my -Spd, +Res Celica and she's still my best Red Mage after promoting a good IV Tharja
Celica's kit is just super good and very flexible
Delthea has one of the highest attack stats of the blue mages and her inane kit is busted if you run infantry units; just use her default death blow 3 build and give her support options.
Modes like Arena Assault, Squad Assault and Chain Challenge require you to have lots of units so you're flexible and can adapt to whatever enemy team comp
There's no reason to let strong units sit in your barracks even if they're not ideal

Summer Corrin is amazing too. Especially with Spring Camilla. And Summer Xander actually enables a ton of gimmicky teams and is good for events.
And all those Valor and Exp skills are pretty neat to have too even though they aren't exactly recommended in any serious setting.

Lucina or Lyn.
Lucina really has great stats. And that +3/+6 she gives every physical attacker near her really is pretty amazing.
Ike is worth a mention too. One of the best tanks in the game.

Roy can be used for galeforce memes but he really does seem like the most lackluster unit of the bunch. And Xander is basically the best sword cavalry anyway. They'll likely do a replay of Xander's Great Hero Battle in due time anyway due to his popularity at which time you'll be able to get Xander for free.

Everyone are going on and on about Lyn though. And she really is amazing. But to be frank, if it weren't for those Cavalry exclusive buffs Lucina really would be the better choice. But it kind of looks like they're trying to give Infantry some exclusive support too which would likely really shake things around.

All difficulties campaign for orbs. Check the home menu for that little board that gives you Daily/Monthly things, the usual free orbs are KILL X amount of times or ALL SURVIVE THIS MAP. Abuse the reroll for easy enemies for Training Tower survival if you want the free orbs there. There's Chain Challenge Lunatic that gives orbs, mega hard. Arena gives free orbs after certain days if you rank up. Last is the Tempest Trials but that's not live at the moment.

OH and link up your Nintendo account with the game from the options menu, then start claiming your free care packages with points from clearing campaign maps.

It's typically chain challenges on lunatic. But if you've just started out it might be hard unless you've already got a really good team(s).
The story, paralogues, and challenges already cover several hundred orbs though. And the quests for this month, events included should be another hundred.

And then they'll give us new events with new quest schedules with just as many orbs yet again.
Many people have been afraid or felt let down or disappointed and feeling betrayed the few times we've gotten a week or so without new orbs. Since there is technically no method of getting orbs that isn't finite aside from intelligent systems giving us new quests and events.
But that's just the thing. They always have and during the aforementioned times where we did go a few days without orbs they responded by giving us a ton of them.

Will this keep up forever? Who knows. But it has kept up since launch at the very least and likely what's been keeping the game successful. So they'll likely keep it up for as long as they support the game.
But yeah. Doing Main Story and Paralogues should get you pretty far. In addition to this month's quests and dailies.
