N64 FPS Games: Awesome NPC hit reactions. Jets of blood. Limbs blown away. Enemies staggering. Every bullet registering in some way. Headshot = OHK.
PC FPS Games: Piss-weak weapons. Bullet sponge enemies that don't react to being hit.

I'm quite the PCfag, but I'll admit: I'd play at least Turok 2 over Quake 2 any day.

Turok 2 had a PC cersion along with the N64 version and just recebtly got a remaster.

That is true, but the odd thing is that almost all the high profile N64 FPS games had great hit reactions. You shot someone, and they staggered. You go pick a random PC FPS game from the same era, including heavy hitters like Half-Life, and it was like shooting walking sacks of potatoes who barely registered you unloading an SMG into their face. I blame the Quake engine.

Turok 2 is quite possibly the best SP shooter ever made, which ironically, was made as console game.

Not to sound disparaging, but Turok, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc had a lower framerate and closer draw distance, meaning you had to be closer to your enemies. The combat was way more intimate in these games as a result

>Half-Life
It's worth noting that Turok 3 was trying very hard to be Half-Life, and by amazing coincidence its NPC hit reactions are shit.
