What would be an ideal main pawn on the long road to magickal mastery?

Man, this is a bit unrelated, but I was really hoping Dauntless would have Dragon Dogma's combat. Dragon Dogma's combat was superb, where as Dauntless was so goddamn shallow and shitty.

The closed beta was absolutely terrible. We'll just have to wait for Monster Hunter World I suppose.

Generally, you want to avoid hybrid damage weapons because of the damage barrier. Cursed light's pretty good if you can get past it somehow, though. Typically I have my pawn carry around a goldforged almace for freezing shenanigans, but I always sleep with him carrying a devilsbane or whatever the strongest sword I have at the moment.

I don't have my backup save for my twin drow bitches anymore unfortunately, but it's either this one, or the one in the middle row on the far right in my screenshot.

KEEP IN MIND, it won't look right until you see it in game against the white of the trophy set. IMO that's the only set that makes drow look good.

I get the impression that once someone becomes the Senechal at first, they do exactly that: fix the world's problems. But then the Senechal watches how the people grow lazy from it, pawn-like, and they become bitter or resentful. I suppose it varies depending on the individual Senechals on how much time it takes for them to grow distant and uncaring.

Also, I don't think piercing your chest with the Godsbane when you've become the Senechal actually grants you freedom. Savan held it in his chest, so maybe you doing it to yourself can't actually end your Arisen turned Senechal, but rather makes you actually ascend to the full scope of god-like powers, while your pawn is bestowed with your likeness and presumably a soul of their own.

It'd be fun as fuck if you could double jump and roll with the sword and shield equipped or hotswap.

very fun imo, it also has the strongest strength scaling so you'll do progressivly great damage

really really really fun. you have duel daggers, a 1h sword, and your choice of a shield or shortbow. this means you can go around the archer and fighter and rogue classes unlocking a shit load of passive abilities that turn you into a DPS machine.

I ended up soloing the final fight against the dragon because it was more time efficient to just keep wailing on him than to waste time rezzing my pawns only for them to get killed again ten seconds later due to stupidy.

Not really, you can always just do it in order with a guide. I'm following this one for a clean 600/600 stat so I can ideally play what I want whenever I want after grinding to 200

I got it from some guy in gamefaqs so it should work. If all else fails you can mod it such that you'll get the best stats per level so you can literally play anything and not care

Everything is viable in end game as long as you dragonforge your shit. Red vocations (mostly warrior) just have a harder time in BBI since they're not as versatile.

ive been using this thing i came up with to make combat more challenging/less item based

you can use healing items only when you are able to manually save the game (in other words, out of combat so you cant just tank anything provided it doesnt 1 shot yo), no wakestones too obviously (unless you wanna res julien or that poor guys son of course)

no strength or magick enhancing items or techniques (magic rebalancer, periapts, salomets secrets etc, damage is insanely high with them)

no throwblasts, dragon spits, foreign daggers or anything else you equip and "throw" from the inventory

Normal mode only, hard mode is easier after like 5 minutes due to way enhanced exp gain


the most important part is the healing items thing, without it combat feels a lot different because suddenly you really need to focus on avoiding damage as much as possible

personally ive been soloing these and going purely as 1 vocation to see how each vocation handles the challenges of the game as they come along, but I dont think using pawns would be bad, you level much faster solo so thats another consideration too

if i was going to use pawns id just not load them up with any kind of healing items, anodyne off a pawn or yourself is fine cause it sucks and requires a lot of effort to take advantage of in a meaningful way

also I just carry 100s of large mushrooms and spam that shit cause stamina is just broken unfortunately, you dont regen it nearly fast enough late game to make it a compelling system like it is in a souls game or something

For ideas for spicing things up, this isn't exactly a challenge playthrough but it's what I'm going to do tomorrow. Start a sorcerer, you RP as a lich. Either never hire pawns and brine yours at the start of the game, or use them but only use offline ones and disable their speech. Your skills are

>Necromancy
>Comestion
>Dark Affinity (focus bolts)
Switch them up when you inevitably get bored. And take my advice and use the hooks mod to move yourself right to rank 9 vocation so you can use your skills straight away. After playing through this game so many times there's no threat and it's just grinding to get your fun skills anyway.

Ur dragon requires you to hit specific weakpoints on his body to cause damage, when one weak point takes enough damage to break you'll have to move to another

Also if you're fighting the online Ur dragon your ability to move his health bar is pretty limited and even if you do manage to do a huge amount it'll not log your contribution due to it deciding that you must be cheating to do so much damage

for offline though you just need to be moving about finding his weak points, you can kill him in 1 round if you're quick enough

you can tell if you're hitting a spot that has not been broke yet by the color of his blood, you want non-white blood i forget what color it is you do want, purple maybe?

If you do restart as warrior do NOT do hard mode. The stagger resistance enemies have means they'll die before you knock them down/up/away etc so it sucks a lot of fun out of the warrior run. Also the stamina gauge for all classes is basically your "fun" meter, so limiting it further is a bit dumb.

He's right though; all that faffing about with the spear at the start is the equivalent of using Windmill Slash but with a two handed weapon; it's completely weightless and unsatisfying, as is the charge thrust. Not exactly. Resting in the Inn uploads your data and sends back any pawn you've release or that has died.
Pawns who die get default ratings, no comments and no gifts.
If you want to avoid this and rate them properly, you have to:
-Avoid resting in the Inn, since that would sync the data
-Hire them again and release them immediately after with proper ratings. This overwrites last rating, so it overwrites default ratings
-Rest at the Inn. Data will get uploaded with the last ratings and comments you gave them.
Don't worry about RC and gifts, they'll get them all from combined hires, only ratings get overwritten.
