It's really sad. As totally repetitive and braindead as the games are, the NES one I actually beat twice and played the fuck out of. I missed most of the following games when they were new, only coming back thanks to collections on Gamecube, but I loved what I played of Total Carnage, and wish the series could return. But I know it would not be the same and they would make things too serious, or have you play as a soldier fighting the monster instead.
