So many things went wrong. So many things. Why was Autumn 2012 so fucking awful? It was peak shit for vidya in my view. Absolution was so cancerous that it makes my skin crawl half a decade later.

It wasn't even so much this as much as the writing was just flatout fucking ass.

The game could've been as story-driven as 2 but the execution was terrible and everything tied together so absurdly. Like, why the fuck would 47 need to string all these assassinations together as he goes? It made no sense.

They were all associates tied to the cartoony texan dude, but yeah. Some made little sense. That plot device of a girl was even fucking worse, and 47's sudden feelings of sympathy for someone who wasn't signing a check to him.

Just like Splinter cell conviction, they made an Uncharted clone instead of a stealth game like it's predecessors.

It's all fading into memory now, but as I remember it felt very on rails and story oriented.

I always felt that the writing was an underrated aspect of these games. The majority of the games have excellent writing by pulp fiction standards. Absolution's writing was so shit because it stopped using stuff like classic Bond and Leon The Professional as inspirations and instead went for a generic nu-Hollywood thriller approach.

i liked it but it was too linear and on-rails for a hitman game

it was like playing a slick blockbuster action flick though

ghosting the game was fun.
