Treasure Video Games is to the East as Rareware is to the West. A bit of overhype and a cult-like fanbase, but for good reason. Both have also seen better days.

Ikaruga is a meme for autistic people and definitely hipsters. Those people harp on its successes when the reality is it was just an incoherent puzzle game before it was a shooting game.

So you're saying you found it too difficult.

It's not that hard, you don't have to be an autist to hit a single fucking button press to switch polarities. The enemy waves have a pattern, as does the boss attacks, you get plenty of notice during first time attempts, and by attempt 2 or 3 you literally have no fucking excuse to get hit.

What part of 'if it's white bullets, go white, if it's black bullets, switch to black' is not straight forward? What part of 'black bullets do extra damage to white ships, and vice versa' is so hard to understand?

Amazing developer that truly understood good game design.
Especially shown in Alien Solider, a game where if you play well, you are untouchable, unstoppable, and if you dont, then you get destroyed. The game gives you every tool you need to perfectly deal with everything the game has.
