Doesn't Jim Sterling's wildly inconsistent review methods further prove that game journos shouldn't be trusted, and that there's no such thing as a broken clock being right when it comes to idiots who will always be wrong because they, at the core of it all, hate video games and just want everything to be a hollywood movie?

yeah, horizon is just slightly above average, but botw isnt great either.
only gran plateau, zora questline and hyrule castle are good, the rest is subpar, especially rito. you can easily remove 20 points from the metacritic to get the actual value

If your not checking reviews just for performance and bug checks. Your doing it wrong. Why do you care about others opinions?? These are just video games as long as your having fun, why do you care if someone else doesn't enjoy it?

As I recall, when the news of leaking and advertising leverage really broke open a few years ago Nintendo was specifically noted as one of the few companies that didn't bother paying for reviews.

Nintendo probably doesn't even know that's an option, they are not the best at marketing to gamers. They are good at marketing at families and parents, though.

there's also checking for just terrible things though. if almost every reviewer is giving a game lower than a 5/10 i'll barely pay attention to it. if a game gets middling reviews i'll look a bit into it to see if it piques my interest. if a game is getting straight 10s then i'll definitely see if it's worth picking up. i'm not gonna use the score as something in an internet fight though, because then you're just arguing that someone's else's opinions are worth more than your own.
