9S is a mage archetype and more suited for people who likes playing mages in RPGs. I personally think the "giving meaning to existence" was an early sign of the Android commanders becoming self aware and wanting to imitate humans as best they could .

All through the game you see different characters becoming self aware but not really know what's going in since there are no humans to freak out about it

The pods and the machine village are examples of this but also many androids in the side quest.

The yorhas from space have the no emotion rule but not so much for the ones on earth , infact they are all basically human for all intent and pourpous

Other than that, there's not much I can think of. A few small things:

What killed Pascal's village? It seemed like it kind of happened for no reason.

Was the machines' decision to build an ark and leave earth caused by something YoRHa did, or was it just a coincidence that it happened not long after YoRHa was scheduled to implode?

Why didn't the game bother to address the psychological and philosophical implications of YoRHa black boxes being built from machine cores? Seems like a really important plot point that doesn't get explored at all.

Everyone died... Except Anemone and A2, who went rogue. Pretty much for the last half of the game the machine networks intent was to torment 9S, which involved killing Pascal's village. The machines were originally programed just to murder androids, but N2 became so evolved that he surpassed his programming and gained an admiration for life and a want for something more, hence why they built an ark to fly to a different planet. It would probably be better for you to watch a 15 minute plot explanation on YouTube and then come ask questions if you still don't understand

YoRHa was created to propagate the lie that humanity was still alive so androids would have a will and reason to fight. It was planned from the beginning that they would be wiped out so there was no possibility of the secret getting out, but after ending D Jackass finds out anyways. The reason the machines stopped fighting is because they realized that if they kill all androids, they won't have a reason to live anymore. That's one thing I actually do remember.

Also, are you sure the machine network killed Pascal's village to spite 9S specifically? He wasn't even there for it. In my playthrough, I didn't bother taking 9S back to the village afterwards, so ostensibly he didn't even know anything happened.

It would make more sense if the machine network was targeting the pods, who are analogues for the player. What better way to get back at the player than to deliver an emotional gutpunch for seemingly no reason?
