Whats the gimmick of the zone 1 boss? I just hit him during invincibility frames, i don't really get what there was to be done

It's death egg zone (sk3) act 1 boss with gravity shift mechanics. It's a reference on how knuckles can't defeat this boss in the original.

How do the gravity shifts in that boss even work? Is it just random? I feel like there has to be a way to manipulate it because I've gone almost a full minute with the elevator going up.

Agreed. I loathed it my first playthrough but I once I eventually got the hang of it, it became my favorite final zone.

I didnt see any parts where you had to time running through fire perfectly or else you fall into a stage hazard. Also didn't see any Asteron, Shellcrackers or Slicers.

Nothing near the shitty enemy placement you saw in Sonic 2 or CD

Yeah, and that particular attack gives you like a bloody 10 seconds to either kill the badnik launching the attack, or run away from it far enough. If you can't do either you're bad.

Eggmanland can take up to an hour. Act 2 of Titanic Monarch takes less than 10.
