To be fair, he's hindered by his naivete and hero worship for Sonic. What he really needs is another solo game to help flesh him out. There were shades of this in both Adventure games and Battle but a standalone title would do much more.

Seriously.
There's so much that could have been used from Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and, yes, even Shadow.

But they fucked it all up and squandered so much potential.

I was always disappointed that they made Tails super smart and doing stuff with computers.

It would have been more natural if he was just regular smart and learning mechanics, which seemed to be more what they were leaning for in SA1.

Knuckles' character was also butchered.

Really though, I'd just like to see them stop trying to add every character into each game.
