Fuck that, let's talk about our favourite Flash Games, you'll get more from that

I loved Stick RPG but never played the sequel because I'm not paying 20 fucking dollarydoos for it and I'm not playing a watered down free version either

Always got all them tower defence games too, even if all of them somehow lag even modern computers (Bloons is especially guilty of this)

Started playing that today. The weapons feel great and the level design is also great. I'm only really interested in the terrorist hunt though. I'm a bit disappointed that you can memorize the enemy placement of a map in just a few hours' worth of playing that map.

My second favorite FPS after original DOOM. Only played the original campaign and Battle Out of Hell though.

What are your thoughts on the stand-alone expansions? They're on sale this weekend and I have a couple bucks in my steam wallet.
>>
>>389019826
With t-hunt you can cheese that slightly by playing with different amount of terrorists, that way you switch locations up a bit.

There is also a mod that enhances the enemy AI on moddb. You should really not be playing on hardest mode in vanilla because enemies reaction time is purely RNG at worst, insane at best. I say this as someone put probably 500 hours into that game over the years, online and offline.

Also, while t-hunt is fun the campaign is where the game truly shines because hostage rescue is the true meat and potatoes of the game. Creating a plan manually, setting up multiple point breaching etc. It's a great game really.

If you ever get sick of and decide you crave more, I honestly recommend going back a notch with Rogue Spear and its expansions pack. There is a fanmade compilation called R6 Black Ops that puts Rogue and all its expansions into a single campaign with fixed compatibility issues etc. It looks dated but its very fun and missions/maps are very interesting.

>replaying this
>still enjoy the air boat section

The only real issues with it are it dragging on too long with you just driving forward through a swampy area. You have to dodge missiles from those Combine truck things multiple goddamn times and each one is just annoying. I still really like how the airboat controls (quick to start and drifty) and once you get the gun for it it becomes a ton of fun to drive and shoot with. Also the areas you have to stop and fight through are pretty well designed and fun. Found the starting sewers to be less fun honestly. Also I was shocked at how empty a lot of the environments are.

>>389028164
So is there a solid list of WW2 shooters out there? Every time there's a classic FPS game it's typically filled with less realistic FPS games, and older CoD's and more sim-lite ones go unmentioned.

Wasn't MoH 2010 reboot about Delta? Or was it Seals? The game was a shit shooter but the camaraderie and the story were good at least.
>>
>>389032103
Yep, half was Delta and half was SEALs. That was the closest we get to modern DF game.
I also liked it a lot, as short as it was. Then the sequel fucked everything up and was mostly about SEALs too thematically.

Btw, one of the most atmospheric missions for me as the one where you have a bunch of guys and you need to patrol a forest. You go there with a jeep. You meet a Russian patrol there and fight it out. My autism always kicked in at the end if I would lose a guy and I would be sad looking back at the forest thinking this is where one of my guys found his end.

I tried playing this on Revive and it's too damn hard.
>go as an Assault

>go as an Engineer
>an Assault kills me

>gun has spread the side of the screen and you move ridiculously slow while it's out
I mean I get the idea is that you need to have squads comprised of different roles to succeed, but that's kind of hard to achieve when playing with randoms.

But the maps are fucking huge and also I want to get on point and do something. And well, as soon as point is captured you're supposed to fight back for it, but if I jump into a personnel carrier it gets shot down and if I walk there on foot I'm too late.

I feel like everyone playing the game nowadays is really good at it, they're familiar with all the quirks and loadouts and such. I guess that's the problem with all those old and not very popular games.

i feel like it should be shitty, most vehicle/change up of gameplay sections in other FPS feel like filler, but it really is awesome. the atmosphere and landscape is great, the pace of it and the music, it's a very memorable sequence. HL2 is so classic. I really liked the buggy sections too. Stopping by abandoned houes/points of interest and hopping out to explore was great. it made the world feel so big and added to the desolate dystopian vibe of the whole thing. Honestly, I played Revive for a time and I found it easier than back in the day. Winning at the actual shooting parts seemed easier since I got better at that stuff playing other games. And the rest was the same as before. I just couldn't force myself to learn flying all-over again. Crashed 2 or 3 helis and just called it. Infantry only for me. Play the city maps and only use vehicles as a passenger with your squad leader. Never ever spawn into a vehicle though, it always gets blown up 1 second after you spawn.

Based on your description it sounds like you don't have a feeling for where the action is and where you're safe. If you want all-out firefights you've got to go with your team mates but spend most of your time in cover and checking out the minimap. But a better strategy imo is lone-wolfing it intentionally a bit removed from the main fights. You can pick people off using something like the LA8 (medic rifle, one of the best guns in the game), heal yourself and sometimes spam medpacks where buddies will soon go to collect extra points. You can help cap the occasional flag but don't make it your main focus. That only works if you have a squad where everyone does the same so you have numbers advantage wherever you go and can bully your way into flags.

Also a fun thing I only realized when I played Revive: Anti-tanks are for HIP FIRING. Both the rockets and the guns like P90 are really accurate when hipfired and you're waaay less likely to be hit yourself if you keep strafing at full speed. BF2 players have bad aim. Just strafe-jiggle and spray hip fire with the P90 and you win a solid chunk of infantry fights as long as you're within 20 metres or so. Again all of this is for city maps. I would avoid maps that feature planes.
>>
>>389036284

It's kind of a self-made issue since if the vehicle was far away from any action you wouldn't want to spawn there any way.

Take what I said about hip firing though. I suspect anti-tanks or engineers have some spray and pray SMG type weapons in that game, too. never played it but I know the combat is very similar. You're supposed to scope in and shoot at an almost still target. That's what everyone is used to, so when you break that trend you catch people off-guard.

Well, I'm no genre purist, and I can accept any gameplay design, if ideas click, and I find gameplay fun. And it was WAY better than Doom 3's sorry attempt to mix Doom/Quake with Half-life

Funny enough it got lots of flak for being "archaic", in other words not being CoD enough.
Interestingly, unlike entire "WW2 shooter" genre, AI buddies weren't just ornament, but provided actual support, able to hold on their own without scripded immortality.

Wolfenstein 09 is really good. I went in expecting a shitty CoD clone from everything I had heard about it, but it actually turned out to be really fun and fairly creative. Exploring was a lot of fun. I generally dislike regenerating health because it's so dull but this game gave you a lot of options and incentive to actually get out and fight rather than simply hiding.

But I guess because it's an Activision-published shooter with regenerating health, it's automatically a bad game, right? Internet hivemind drives me crazy.

Best weapons in the series. Vaporizing everything in your path was really satisfying. I hope The New Colossus gets back to some of this stuff.

I like it better than RtCW

Such a relatively unknown game, but so full of great stuff. The freedom of action and the open world design are fucking unrivaled. This may just be the best open world game ever made.

Anyone know how similar this game is to Boiling Point?
>>
>>389045681
Very, except it's in space, and there's a lot of travel between distant places, so no continuous open world.

And just as buggy, obviously.

I love Wolf2009 but it's regen mechanic is absolutely terrible. The game is devoid of challenge (except for the final boss, that guy kicked my ass way too much times before I went through it). I'd still recommend it for fun paranormal Nazi activities and ridiculous weapons.

Yeah, it's a bummer. Not like it's exclusive to Wolf09 though. What a horrible trend. If it had the health system of nu-Wolf it would be my favorite.
>>
>>389048747
I actually like how Call of Duty balances HP regen. Don't love it, but I think they had a decent idea for a while.

Honestly, both the airboat and the car sections are pretty goddamn great. Played through the entire Highway 17 segment and enjoyed the shit out of it, then I did Nova Prospekt and found it to be pretty dull overall. They just toss you into a bunch of disadvantaged situations, and then you use the bug bait to get out of them. You also spend a lot of time just knocking turrets over, and then near the end the game throws 3 (three) goddamn turret defense sections. I know one of the episodes does this too, but it does it so much better. There's only like 2 more segments though, so I'll wrap it up sometime just for the hell of it.

I'm honestly shocked at how much more fun the game is if you avoid using the SMG. I remember using it a ton because the game drowns you in ammo for it, but if you just hop between the shotgun, the revolver, the combine rifle, grenades, and the crossbow the gunplay becomes a lot more fun.
