Any good competitive FPS games with high skill ceilings?

If you want not dead FPSs, and you dont like the big titles like csgo, overwatch, cod, bf, or even tf2, you're kinda just out of luck. You can always put hope in future titles like diabotical or fucking midair but it's unlikely they'll 'succeed'. Steamcharts says CS 1.6 still gets 10k+ players, I guess?

I want to like this game, but you pretty much are required to have a really set of headphones to well and that's a turn off for me. Plus the operator balance seems kind of Silly. When Ash and Jager have 100% pick rates and some of the operators have been useless since launch, something is up
