So according to Yoshida last month, Sony are considering funding their own console JRPGs again after the strong international performances of Japanese heavy hitters (Presumably he's referring to Persona 5, Nioh and Nier Automata, all of which sold over a million copies on the PS4 in a short space of time) this year. What would you like to see resurrected, /v/?

Why? If Sony commission a game from a third-party, they do it on the condition that they own the IP due to them being the one front development costs. Whether or not they've made games for other platforms in the past is irrelevant.

I'd argue that's more due to advertising, which to a point trumps everything. They had a gigantic statue of Titan erected in LA for fuck's sake.
Meanwhile Nier Automata, a game with virtually no advertising and a meagre ~5 million budget, broke a million sales.

It's good. It's a pretty mechanically sound action game that sheds most of Onimusha's RE influence and plays it pretty straight down the line with some minor RPG elements, so if you like DMC, Itagaki-era NG, Otogi etc., I'd see you enjoying it. Bear in mind though that it's quite easy and super short (As in like, 6-7 hours on your first run). Stay away from the sequel though, it's a rushed piece of shit.
It caused Inafune and Mikami to both make fun of Okamoto for apparently running out of ideas, which in retrospect a decade on, is quite funny.
