Engie has a teleporter, dispenser, and way more powerful sentry. All torb has is his glass sentry and shitty metal gun.

Yes, engie's mini sentry does more damage than torb's fully upgraded one when you take the average health in both games into the equation. He's a fucking joke, but there's no way blizzturd would allow a turret character to be good on consoles.

torb. His primary is a half shotgun half rivet gun that can do surprisingly good damage mid/long range whilst Engie's pistol damage is pitiful and the shotgun only being good at close range.

Engie wins. The extra help and support from the mini will serve as a good support to dwindle Torb's health
>Overall Usefullness
Again, Engie. Not only does Engie have a far stronger defense but has tons of supportive uses as well from teliporters to dispensers. There's a reason Torb is considered throw class while Engie is considered practically necessary for defense.

Nigger, Torb can snipe the fuck out of people with his pin-point accurate magma pistol. Sure he can't murder the entire enemy team by himself from a distance, but he can quite easily kill any turret out of range as well as melt the Engie's face off from his own nest.

How is this a contest? Just going off of default gear, the Engineer is capable of a much greater damage output. Moreover, he can pick up and move sentries while using dispensers to heal himself. It's like comparing a shitstain inside your toilet bowl to a stream of piss while you're chugging a gallon of water to keep it flowing.

Torb wins because he gets armor to use on himself. Plus, his attacks don't have damage fall-off and can crit for insane damage when struck in the head.

Torb's level 1 sentry is almost as fast as a setup for a minisentry. Not only that, but it's also more durable too -- One or two hits are enough to destroy a minisentry depending on how close you are to utilize the alt-fire.

>Overall usefulness
Unless the Engie had prep time, teleporters won't amount to much. Torb was designed to be in the fray of battle, not to be cooped up behind his turret. He has faster nest building, utility with armor that he can use regularly, and a health boost that puts the Heavy to shame. This forgets about his damage boosts too.

tl;dr Torb wins because both in-game mechanics and lore mechanics make him bullshit outside of Overwatch
