Dark Souls II is legitimately one of the worst games I've ever played and Dark Souls III streamlined out everything good about the first one and managed a more linear progression and less build variety than II did.

The series is 3 for 5, hardly what I would call the best series ever made.

1 is a master piece, 2 Is much better looking back at it in my opinion and 3 is kinda boring and lacks any real charm or soul to it.

Bloodborne while thematically similar and carry over trends that From and Miyakzaki have hardons for are separate entities entirely

There are alot more better game series than the souls series.

Honestly if the series was just a bunch of thematically similar games with no connection it would be way better. Dark Souls, Demon Souls, and Bloodborne are spectacular games that while similar and share traits, still managed to standalone marvelously. The weakest parts of Dark Souls 2 and 3 were moments where it felt like it was forcing it's way into the originals world. Dark Souls 2 is actually a lot stronger when you ignore it's connections to the original, and if they just named it "Dragon chasers" or something it would have been remembered much more fondly then it is in it's current state. DS3 is just kinda soulless and lifeless and just makes DS1's story convoluted and empty.

It has shit combat and the areas you explore aren't very elaborate. I've played all 3, including Bloodborne. I can honestly say the only things the series has going for it is aesthetics, enemy design, and lore.
