I'm so glad a service like this exists, keeps pirates away from stealing games that devs and publishers worked so hard on. It makes me proud to own almost all games with Denuvo on it as I am assured that my games are protected with online thieves. By the way having a blast with Sonic Mania on Steam, and best of all 100% pirate free.

It's a difficult topic for me. On the one hand, something like this needs to exist in order to protect developers and publishers from rampant piracy. On the other hand, if you take it too far you start to erode the commercial viability of your game anyway by tacking on restrictions and points of failure that informed consumers have to take into account when making a purchase.

I'm not really sure what the answer to this problem is, but I don't think it's Denuvo. When you create a situation where the pirates who have stripped your DRM software away are genuinely enjoying a superior product to the one purchased by paying customers, something is awry. So far, Steam appears to be the nicest balance I can think of.

Denuvo only cucks the actual payers
The pirates will not be hostage of this shit.

The only possible way for a singleplayer/localMP game to not be 100% pirate free is for you to be a pirate, so how exactly is that an achievement of denuvo?
>keeps pirates away from stealing games that devs and publishers worked so hard on
except when it doesnt.

It doesnt, or otherwise witcher 3 would have ruined CDPR for releasing W3 without DRM, but it sold millions.

People, not all, of course, but most, are willing to pay for games that they want, and for convenience.
If a game is easier and more comfortably to get legitimately than via piracy, they will pay.
>>
>>388973973
Yeah, now that pirates can't steal games anymore the publishers finally make enough money to be able to release complete games with almost no bugs, no shitty day one DLC and no micro-transactions.

Ohh wait...

did SE remove denuvo from any of their games? konami? WB? Ubisoft?

This is one of the reasons i think Steam has succeeded so well. It's a very streamlined service that makes browsing for and buying games very easy. You're quite right that a system that allows for such convenience greatly increases the chance that a person will purchase the game properly. On the flip side, any game that requires me to use Origin is basically a write-off. I have no desire to attach myself to a shitty system designed by a shitty developer selling (mostly) shitty games.

The Witcher 3 is often used as a counter argument here. I'm not sure if it's entirely valid as such, being that the game is targeted mainly towards an older audience more likely to have the income to purchase it anyway. The bulk of piracy is done by younger people who otherwise couldn't afford the game.

Best post ITT. Thanks for taking an honest look at the scenario as opposed to merely shitflinging all and any opposition.
