Not only is he based on the Sazae Oni (the shell being a dead giveaway) but I think his manatee-ish appearance is a reference to how sailors used to mistake manatees for mermaid from a distance.

The fact that Hypno canonically hypnotizes and kidnaps children is kinda the reason he's been twisted into this vile rapist. I hate Pikachu due to overexposure, which is sad because I fucking loved him as a kid. Skeeter unfortunately is too slow and can't really compete for a slot when so many better options exist in the current meta, even in the restricted SM meta.
Buzzwole, Nihiliego, and Xurkitree are alright but not that commonly used due to falling from grace a few months ago.
Celesteela remains the most used UB by far and the only thing stopping her from becoming on par with box legends is lack of recovery like synthesis.
Pheromosa is still great in singles online, I think the smogon meta banned her but she's still used quite a bit in the actual games, but she's not that great in doubles.
Inverse for Kartana, not great in singles but a staple in doubles.
Guzzlord is irredeemable shit despite being the only UB that can stand against Alolan Marowak, the "Beast Slayer."
