It's a shame. RF4 was an amazing game. It was the epitome of the entire series. It was only really lacking in waifus. Everything else was top notch though. I'd really like to see a revival. Oh man, could you imagine a rune factory on the switch? That would be amazing.

This was a proper MGS game unlike Ride a horse for 10 minutes to reach a lameass guard post with 5 guards TTP.

I thought the original team all went to Marvelous or something and confirmed they were working on RF5 though.

Maybe I am imagining things, but I vaguely recall there being hope.

They're capable of making it but nothing's come of it yet. They're still waiting for the ok as far as I know. They recently released a RF3/4 pack in nipland and it sold out almost immediately so maybe they were trying to raise awareness/gauge interest in the series. Don't lose hope.

neverland was already going under when rf4 came out, marvelous took in the key devs from rune factory so they could finish lord of magna so it's still possible they make another.

I enjoyed RF4 quite a bit, but I think it's flawed compared to RF3

They dump everything on you all at once. It wasn't a make or break thing for me, because I've played all the other rune factories, but these games need to have a smooth/gradual introduction of systems. Also you have no stamina at the start so having 600 things you can be doing is frustrating.

That's only an issue starting out, once you make it past that point it's fine. The more long lasting thing that irritated me was your character is the center of the universe. Every other game you're by yourself on a farm on the edge of town. RF4 you live in a mansion in the center of town with a dragon and butlers. It irritated me when MMO's shifted from you being a nobody making your way in the world to being the chosen one, and it irritated me here too.

(Also the waifus are good, but not great. RF3 I was torn between 4 different girls I wanted to marry)

RF4 is the highest selling in Japan and get amazing reviews. Neverland died because literally everything they make that isn't RF is pure garbage.

RF4 was my first RF and I didn't have very many problems. I was kind of underlevelled for the last boss and I used a guide to figure out the third arc shit.
