>>
>>388926876
it's alright, I didn't say it was bad, it's just not you know, it's missing that thing.

That being said, I think dishonored 2 is a chore more than anything else to play, it feels much better to play but I can't help but find myself getting annoyed and fighting with the game more than flowing with it.

>>388926850
I wouldn't call it worthy, I'd say it's a successor only in appearance, it doesn't have the same aura not does it ask for the same level or respect from the stealth as a thief does.
I don't think Dishonored is much of a stealth game anyway, Dishonored is quite ying and yang about combat and stealth, they more or less bleed into each other and I think that's probably more along the lines of how dishonored reaches its state of flow, you can just leave out one-half of the gameplay but honestly I think by themselves each half is quite empty.

and as far as stealth goes I'd rather play stealth game where everything is tailor made for stealth than something that has to adjust to two wholly different methods of interaction. it's good, it's just not thief good.

I do not care about her
I liked her in Knife of Dunwall, disliked her in Brigmore Witches, and now she had redemption arc so she is just another character who is ok to use
Corvo and Emily had their chapters, Daud as well, but Daud is old now, probably few years younger than Sokolov, so why not use his student?

Arkane and Dawson did a good building her character up in Knife of Dunwall. She was constantly covered from head to toe in armor, and spoke in a normal American west coast accent. Daud isn't augmented like Billie. They can't be using the powers of the Void when working against the Outsider. Just like Garrett in Thief The Dark Project, you're going to use good old technology to kill a god.

Its just illogical. I wouldnt mind if some characters expressed sorrow it had to involve so much killing, I wouldnt mind if some characters would end up surprised if I stayed my blade, but first trying to make me bond with the boat guy and then making him suddenly get butthurt I killed some people is stupid. Sokolov being sad that I killed someone for high treason is stupid. If I have an ability that turns bodies into ash if I kill them down spawn more bloodflies/weepers. Make it feel more natural
>ghost: less guards since people just disappear, no corpses found
>nonlethal: guards try to apprehend you and only shoot if you run away and ignore them, might even help you in some cases
>lethal: they travel in bigger groups and will immediately try and kill you
>>
>>388936684
>be the only black female in a band of white male assassins
>just happen to be the one to betray the group and endanger the lives of everyone

Billie isn't as progressive as you think anon. The one nigger in the group fucks up everything and gets away with it. But keep reading your conspiracy between the lines if you want to keep yourself butthurt.

>he doesnt want to play the National Treasure of the dishonored series
It might be the last game too, since this is clearly the DLC and 2 didn't sell very well
>>
>>388928704
Not really. The lore specifically states that there have been long stretches of time with no Outsider whatsoever. D2 implied that a ritualistic sacrifice is needed to create an Outsider. If the current Outsider dies and nobody does the ritual sacrifice, then there's just no Outsider.

>>388929203
Billie Lurk is unironically one of my favorite characters in Dishonored, just below Daud. I've wanted Billie to be playable since I first played Knife of Dunwall, so I'm hype as fuck for DotO.

Why is Daud so universally loved? In my mind, he's a well-written character with very real inner turmoil, a man who kills for a living suddenly faced with the consequences his actions have wrought across the entire world. There's something fascinating about a killer with a conscience.

That, and Michael Madsen's voice can earfuck me all day long.
>>
>>388937882
probably because of 2nd time you see him
first time, he kills Empress
second time, his boys capture you, weak, poisoned and weak

>>
>>388938213
never had a single problem and played it on laptop
>>
>>388937232
Can someone make some bullet points regarding how this appears in the games? You know, in a way that genuinely compromises design and impacts the product in a negative way?

For example Thief 2 was made by a bunch of progressive Bostoners. It added black and female guards into a medieval steampunk setting and nobody complained because a completely alien fictional fantasy universe with quadroelemental physics and monkey demons doesn't have real world design restrictions.

The same thing with the futuristic Call of Duty games. Human females are objectively less physically fit than males, which is why historically they have not been in military roles. But with mechanical and cybernetic augmentation only the technology is the limit. Adding females into combat roles in those games took away nothing.

In contrast, CoDWWII and black female nazis for the sake of black female nazis. Historical authenticity compromised for no good reason. List some of those in regards to Dishonored and Arkane's political biases.

Not for me. For the people who want this place to be their safe space. This site used to have only one barrier for entry: its obscurity. It was a niche site for people to talk about niche hobbies. Back then, merely being on the website was in itself a sign that you belonged here. But now that 4chan has grown to immense proportions, a lot of its users are trying to nail down what "really" makes someone a true 4channer, and it's basically a series of "no true scotsman" fallacies revolving around an ideal "Anon" that these users made in their own image. And so any time someone clashes with that image, they are assumed to be proof of outsiders diluting the userbase and ruining its collective identity, which leads to endless paranoia, because everyone is anonymous. So it's a vicious cycle of people trying to lock down who does and does not belong here in their eyes and only making things worse for themselves.

As a publisher they actually God-tier in terms of what they put out, but their in house games rarely live up to that standard. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't think Bethesda's games are as bad as /v/ likes to claim.

From what I understand, the Void is a realm underneath the lowest reaches of the deepest ocean. The coolest intro for a Void level would be using some kind of Sokolov Bathysphere to sail down past the demon whales until water disappears and Void begins. Sneaking into the Void without the Outsider knowing. No black magic that the scumbag could detect. It would fit the theme.

What do you guys think about the "taking contracts" part in Death of the Outsider? I think it's a good addition, gives me more stuff to do in a level. I always liked the small side-missions you occasionally had, glad to see they're expanding it.

Also, Displace looks amazing. Better than Blink and Far Reach in my opinion.

Sigh. If only Dishonored weren't so fucking easy. Just spam ridiculous powers and have the Heart tell you where to find upgrades.

If you actually had to play at the level of StealthGamerBR and others like him to beat the game on the highest difficulty, then I'd enjoy Dishonored. After all, I love Thief and Deus Ex, and the gameplay engine is rife with opportunities to utilize and combine various tools and environmental traps. But as it is, the game doesn't push you to use any of those things and it becomes a blink-choke simulator.
>>
Arkane said that Death of the Outsider is the end of the Jessamine arc (so Corvo, Emily, Daud, Billie etc. won't appear anymore), but not the end of the Dishonored franchise. Harvey even said that DotO allows them to get more creative for the next Dishonored games. That being said, the franchise will probably take a long break since they said they worked on Dishonored for 8 years and they want to do new stuff.

Dishonored 2 didn't sell bad as some people like to say, it already sold over 2 million copies and was constantly in the best seller list on the steam summer sale. It's the kind of game that will sell in the future too, just like the first one did and still does (Dishonored 1 also sold a lot in steam sales and such). I don't think Bethesda wants to retire the franchise. Prey did kinda flop though, which is a shame. Bethesda should've never made them call it Prey, it was doomed to fail from the start.
>>
>>388952287
Did you try a no powers run? I found it significantly more challenging doing a no power run on very hard.

I think you need blink for 2 or 3 places in the first game, but in the second game you can refuse Outsider's powers altogether.

Do you have a source for this? Because I love all of it, if you aren't bullshitting me. But if that's the case and this game isn't meant as a cap-off to the Dishonored series, then it's really dumb that they're killing The Outsider, in my opinion.
>>

>Gave powers to Delilah
No. He hated that Delilah had those powers. That's why he was so hell bent on Corvo or Emily killing the bitch.
>>
>>388952453
I have not, and I imagine it's the only way I could get a true challenge from these games. Which is a shame, because I have to ignore over half of the gameplay mechanics to keep from getting bored -- isn't that the opposite of how it should be?

Also, I've never felt that the stealth engine is quite up to par, compared to the robustness of something like Thief. Sightlines are wonky and the sound propagation is mediocre. Also you have that crazy three-foot lean that keeps you invisible. Ech.
>>
>>388952705

I have a really love-hate relationship with Bethesda. On the one hand their development team is pretty shit and they do garbage like the creation club, but on the other hand they constantly publish some of my favorite games these past years like DOOM, Dishonored, Prey, Wolfenstein etc.

As a publisher they are good and I hope they continue to let Arkane/id Software/MachineGames do their thing. I'm a bit concerned that Arkane is hiring an online engineer now, I hope Bethesda is not making them do some multiplayer shit they don't want to make. Unless they're finally making The Crossing?

He gives powers to another person, not a champion. The "bad endings" in Dishonored 1 are possible: defeat those who wronged you but the country is still in turmoil. As the player character, you can chose to be more heroic and do deeds like help the scientists work on a cure for the plague while also not killing every guard you see.
>>
>>388952686
http://wccftech.com/future-dishonored-not-based-emily-corvo/

>In that sense, Smith stated the following: “All I know is that for this set of characters and this situation that started with the rat plague and went through Corvo and Emily and Daud and Billie and The Outsider, this is the finale of that piece,” he said, in addition to confirming that “if there are more Dishonored games they will be different characters in a different situation.”
>>
>>388952801
In Dishonored 2 guards can see you if you lean, if I remember correctly. The AI is better than in the first game too, but it can still be improved.

You also have customized difficulty in the sequel, you can fuck around with about 20 sliders for stuff like no mana regeneration, guards search for you longer, how much noise your footsteps make etc. There's also Iron Man mode.
>>
>>388953374
Yes, but my point is that he gives his powers to the people who need them. What they do with the powers is up to them.
My point is that when people decide to run amok with their abilities, at the very least, he evens the odds by giving someone else the means to fight them.

Like he did with Corvo when Daud used his powers to kill the Empress.
Or how he sort of helped Daud when he went after Delillah in the DLC, even if the help was very vague and via dialogue.
And once again when he gave his powers to Emily/Corvo when Delillah came back in DH2.

Point is, he isn't an evil being. He is, at worst, a neutral being and at best slightly good.
>>
>>388952938
I'm not sure a Dishonored game in Pandyssia might work. Isn't that place pretty much a jungle?

Dishonored is all about urban settings which allows great level design. It's all about that verticality and climbing roofs and balconies and shit. I don't know how you'd do a jungle setting without it becoming repetitive and boring from level to level.
>>
>>388923719
I fucking hate this bitch. Such a horrible fucking person. And they thought I'd like to play as her? Not to mention retarded as fuck objective of the whole game.
>>
>>388952287
How else should you find upgrades? And even with the heart you cannot find everything if you dont try hard. You still have paintings and blueprints to find. And if you disable some of the UI in the options finding runes with the heart is a lot harder as well since it just gives you the direction, not distance.

The abilities are overpowered, but I think its more about comboing them for fun than balance. A lot of players are pretty bad at stealth and the crutches like blink are there for them to survive. Better players can do optional challenges like nonlethal, ghost, refusing the outsider's powers, etc. Its as good as its going to get for an AAA stealth game.

>>
>>388954707
Yeah, it's just that the environment doesn't seem very suited for a Dishonored 2. Unless they make some advanced civilization that built a whole lot of cities with tall buildings in the jungle for some reason.

Tyvia might be better, Dishonored in the winter would be really comfy. After rainy/gloomy Dunwall and hot/sunny Karnaka, a cold setting would be perfect.

I imagine you could do a Dishonored game set in Pandyssia as a large population is attempting to colonize it. It'd be very much about urban and mystical levels, but it could be done.

With that said, if I were forced to make a game set in Pandyssia, I think I'd go with a spin-off pure action/survival game.

No because they needed to tie a loose end. Their idea was to tell corvo she was dead when he came back and pretend to be shocked and then go on. But since corvo was around they had to punish him to cover themselves.
>And how would they have blamed Corvo, then?
They wouldnt have. Remember they didnt want to blame corvo. If they wanted to blame corvo, why kill the empress while he is gone? If they wanted to blame him when he came back for being absent, they couldve done the same with any other plot right?

Low Chaos is technically a challenge run. Especially since Dishonored 2 implies that High Chaos is canon.

Everyone in Dishonored is ugly. Has everyone suddenly forgot that it was the very first thing people criticized of this franchise when the first game was revealed? Do people have goldfish memory or are they just underage?
>>
>>388925275
