The crazy thing is that the trailers don't lie.
Shit voice acting aside everything shown is in the game (the one staged scene of Snake in Africa doesn't count) and each trailer is like a masterpiece.

But then you realize they've shown nearly every cutscene in the game, and most of the character development is in cassette tape.
Some really critical events can only be listened to in audio, the world itself isn't really fleshed out, and the surface plot is actually stupid retarded by Metal Gear standards.

It wasn't supposed to be this way. It's a literal repeat of Peace Walker ending the exact same way. Again, you don't even build MG1's Outer Heaven fortress.

There was literally no point for this game to happen.

All they had to do, even considering the time constraint, was using the final scene with the N313 tape to launch into a MSX style battle between Venom and Solid Snake where you play from Venoms perspective and the fight is unwinnable.

That's all I wanted out of this. Losing if from Venom's pov or if they were to tread over MG 1 a little as Solid, make the difficulty of the fight scale with the resources you'd amassed earlier. The easier you make the game on yourself as Venom/BB, the tougher the ending is to the point of being almost unwinnable.

>>388918091
It's never happening. The whole design of the thing either duplicates nukes or prevents some nuke owners that haven't started the game in forever to be invaded. We're in this forever, and we're still here just to suffer.

Total disarmament will never happen, and that was the point the game was trying to make I guess, except nuclear proliferation is caused not by warmongers, but shitty coders.

Wait what? Also there's no way it can happen you can't keep a head alive long enough to reattach it.
>>
>>388919094
There were records of people getting decapitated and still be alive, so it may be possible, for how long i have no idea.
>>
>>388919094

I'm not about to discuss this on /v of all places but I can't help but wonder if one could keep it alive to cryo by supplementing oxygen and energy through other methods and staving off shock.

That shouldn't be the tough part--I would THINK the difficulty lies in successfully re-attaching the head to a body just properly to sustain those organs, not even delving into nerves and motor function,
>>
>>388919349
How can you even tell if they're alive and it isn't just their muscles twitching or something? Also even if its true its only for like 5 seconds or less.
>>
>>388919349
6.5 seconds I believe. Doc probably has something up his sleeve.
I'd rather not he turn his patient into Pelinal though. Of course I doubt the patient will be awake while he's getting sawed.
>>
>>388919349
Rubbish. Play a record, Karl.
>>
>>388919094
Ya it's for real happening but I hear his colleagues think he's crazy
>>
>>388919478

Again I'm not doctor, nor a qualified professional of any level, but there's been some success in keeping animal heads alive and conscious after being severed from their bodies, Truth is I doubt anyone actually knows because such experiments aren't seen as ethical and haven't been fully trialed.
>>
But what I want to know is if he'll be losing his medical license and barred from practice if the procedure fails despite full agreement.

That patient is gonna die anyways. He's done for whether he goes through with it or not.
>>
>>388916714

>>
>>388919485
Fuck if i know.
>>388919478
>not even delving into nerves and motor function
Thats what im curious too, we can't cure paraplegics but we can reattach a head to a different body?
>>
>>388919790

Well the new body ideally wouldn't have a severely damaged spine or central nervous system. The problem with that specifically is that there aren't any proven methods to regenerate or repair those damaged structures and restore lost function.

This would be a different approach to that problem entirely, If you can't fix it, why not replace it?
>>
But then there's the issue of rejection. If either components reject each other the procedure fails and the patient dies. Very painfully if I had to guess.
>>
Canavero and Ren also went directly to the mass media[11] with claims (backed by videos) that they have carried successfully a head transplant on a live monkey in China, an experiment similar to the ones performed in the past by Vladimir Demikhov (1954) and Robert J. White (1970). The new element now, according to Canavero and Ren, is that they are ready to tackle the two main problems encountered by the previous efforts: the immunological rejection, and the reconnection of the spinal column ("spinal linkage"), the latter thanks in part to a work done by C-Yoon Kim, at Konkuk University School of Medicine in South Korea, on re-fusion of a mouse spinal cord using precision cutting and Texas-PEG (polyethylene glycol), a modified PEG treatment including carbon nanoribbons developed at Rice University.

I'm sure there is a ton of procedure to go through for something like this. I don't think it matters if he fails or not at this point, if everyone has signed off on it then it's up to them. Keep in mind there are like over 50 doctors on this or something crazy like that and it will take over 10 hours as well. Forgot the exact numbers but it's up there.

its fun to pretend the kojima ruse cruise goes that deep but highly unlikely. the doctor has also been straight up asked if he has any involvement and denied it.

>>
>>388919570

>>
>>388920594
>Valery Spiridonov, a 32-year-old Russian with Werdnig–Hoffmann disease (type I spinal muscular atrophy) and rapidly declining health, has volunteered to offer his head for Canavero's studies,
>>

>Valery Spiridonov

So first off I wasn't entirely right about Spiridonov; My memory was off and although serious, it's not ~quite~ as grim as I remember it being.

But I just came across an article from June that apparently he opted out of the procedure and Sergio has a new patient in China.

The more nukes you have the longer the blockade is when you are infiltrated. So nukes holders have enough time to rebuild any lost nuke while being invisible.
>>
>>388917461
I think the fact that the trailers showed everything, when the rest of the series has all sorts of twists and turns it didn't give away before release, was the biggest problem.

Also, has anyone hacked the game to find more unused assets? I feel like there's a lot of unfinished stuff hidden in there.

Sorry to rustle your jimmies but every genuine Metal Gear fan (the ones who didn't find out about the series from 4 or 5) are going to buy survive, they blame Kojima for releasing a game that seemed to have one decently planned cutscene/level and want more out of V. We're all going to be buying survive.
>>
>>388923031
Snake was a non-character in his own game so it's hard to tell, but Sutherlands performance was still dull as fuck. It was one element of the game's big problems with characters, which I think was one of the main reasons it felt like some shitty military game and not Metal Gear.

>>
>>388923231

They're equally bad for different reasons.

4 sucks because it continues the main storyline but in a haphazard way.

V sucks because it's nothing but a side story that has no real consequence on the main story.

V proves that Kojima had said all he wanted to say in the series and V is what it looks like when he just ran out of steam storywise.
