only bad thing about dead money was when it glitched and i couldn't progress once i tried to get God. it was still fun though. Old World Blues a best.

I actually felt owb was the worst of the bunch, really felt wacky for the sake of wacky
>>
Too much combat shows that combat kind of sucks in those games. High level enemies just became bullet sponges.
The setting was really great though. It was pretty well written. Greed and obsession were a main theme. It ruined many people in the story.
And it can get you killed too if you won't let go of those damn gold bars when trying to escape at the end kek. I thought it was pretty brillant. There are still ways to get them though.
>>
>>388905082
I was piling them into my fucking backpack as fast as i could and then it hit me like a fucking load of bricks. God damn probably the best written twist in any video game. so fucking classy

I can't tell if you fuckers are trolling or not at this point

The first time I played through this garbage, it killed a 50 hour save.

The second time, I played very carefully and took the whole DLC seriously. It fucking sucks. The gas sucks, the beeping sucks, the holograms suck, the weapons suck, the characters suck

You fuckers need to finally admit that New Vegas has no good DLC before this lie consumes you all.

I've only played these two so far, and I loved zion but hated dead money.

I played zion first and got to enjoy connecting all that cave father lore with the survivalist entries, learning the history of the tribes, Joshua graham, etc. Then I got to dead money with its bullet sponge ghost people, shitty stealth segments, d.o.t.s, "objective: run" segments. I lost all will to play

>Elijah goes on about not being able to let go of the treasure
>mfw the Holorifle was more valuable to me than all those gold bars
>>
>>388907090
you should've invested in energy weapons. the holorifle is incredibly overpowered, and it's pretty easy to get Dog's ghost hunter perk.
>>
>>388907090
Honest Hears is basically "explore and shoot em up", Dead Money is "survival".

Go into Dead Money unprepared and it will fuck you up hard.
>>
>>388907090
Should have paid attention, anon. You need to use a melee weapon to smash the limbs and heads of downed Ghost People, or allow Dog to eat them.

You use the .357 if you use Guns, the Holorifle if you use Energy Weapons and the Knife Spear if you use Melee. Take out Ghost People one by one and as soon as possible so they don't swarm you and aggro more of them.

Honest Hearts is great and has based Joshua "Burned Man" Graham, but it's very easy outside stuff like Yao Guai and cave bosses. Dead Money forces you to make the most of your surroundings rather than going around guns blazing. scavenge for cigarettes to exchange for chips, new schematics, hidden stashes.
>>
>>388906812
The whole "pacifism" subplot was retarded. It's one thing to not actively seek conflict, but the idea of "no weapons, everyone please play nice with us" is a stupid concept that will never work.

This >>388909962 Tales of Two Wastelands is great. I've had no issues with it, even with my fuck loads of mods installed. The only issue is if you're traveling from Vegas to the Capital Wasteland, once you get there it can be hard for new players to navigate out of. I recommend starting in Vault 101 then traveling to NV later, if you aren't accustomed to Fallout 3's map that is. If you're a console abusing fag, it's coc Springvale and not Megaton now. The later doesn't work.
>>
>>388909867
FO3's Wasteland is good, but I feel that New Vegas's in theory would be better if it was properly implemented ala concept art.
Part of it is that the Wasteland is really sad and empty. It's creepy and melancholic at the same time. New Vegas is basically Fallout 3, and I like it for being lighterhearted.

Not going to lie, NV is probably my most favorite game of all time but the start is pretty slow, once things actually get moving and you start doing odd jobs for the settlements you pass by it gets really good. Doing bitch work and meeting all the characters in Freeside so I can scrounge up enough dosh to get into the strip is one of the first highlights of the game.
But yeah, to anyone considering buying this don't be discouraged by the slow beginning, it starts to really shine once you start moving into Novac which is an hour to an hour and a half into the game at most.brb reinstalling

Lonesome Road is only good because of the Riot gear, Rachel charges, EDE upgrades and the gorillion special ammo. Story is fucking trash, especially BEAR AND BULL man. Also Red glare, Nail gun and industrial saw is neat too.

That was a bit of the point, either teach the Sorrows that fighting is a necessary evil to survive against those who want to harm you but lose their innocence in the process

40 years, but if FEV were involved in some way, it would change them drastically, and probably in this exact way (Stronger limbs, claws instead of jelly arms).

Tunnelers and Wamaningos are native to California (As far as anyone can tell) and prefer to reside entirely within the underground. Both can easily kill Deathclaws, and both are of a hivemind mentality with a queen.

I thought Dead Money was okay. The change of pace and difficulty was interesting, but it quickly became easy once you realized how broken certain aspects of it were. Plus, I thought the story was cheesy by constantly hammering in the "Begin Again" message, though I mostly blame Laura Bailey's phoned-in performance.
>>
>He didn't pick the most golden bars possible, leaving everything else behind
>>
>>388919687
I think my biggest issue with HH, aside from maybe the fact that it attempts nothing new gameplay wise that the base game hasn't already done better, is the story. It makes 0 sense to side with Daniel's side. The White Legs are essentially a morally bankrupt raider gang with no allegiances, and leaving them in Zion only fucks up more of the tribes local to the area. The only reason one can argue not to kill them is to prevent Joshua Graham from exacting is wrath upon them, but clearly that's his purpose in Zion, and it's what allows him to amend for his mistakes in the Legion. Despite the overall better ending that comes from siding with Joshua over Daniel, a lot of extrinsic factors (for one example the value of the achievement/trophy being higher for siding with Daniel) seem to value choosing the less violent option. It's just kind of a mess of a dlc, and it adds the least to the story behind Ulysses and the Courier. As much as I like Graham as a character, it's not enough to hold together the very below average dlc.

>old man who can't even upgrade his own securitrons
>stopping the tunnelers
Granted, he's got a better chance than the Courier on his own or the Legion, but NCR has the best chance. NCR swallowing Vegas makes the roads to the Mojave safer (no troops focused on pressing the Legion, instead just securing territory), increasing tourism, allowing the Strip to expand, granting more security, adding tourism, allowing more commerce to happen, causing more noise and more bright lights (their weakness).

Sure, an army of securitrons is good to have, but it doesn't stop the tunnelers from following NCR routes into California. The better secured those routes are, the worse of a chance the tunnelers have. You literally have to side NCR if you want Vegas to have any real future.

I just like (and dislike bits of) them for different reasons. It's been a while but I just like dark, world of DM, stalking the streets, scavenging for supplies to fight against spOoOoky enemies, and the companions were neato. In OWB, the scientists were sorta stupid, but it was fun in its own way, I liked finding all the experimental shit, and having background on certain things, robo scorpions were so-so. LRs story wasn't the fucking best, and it was PRETTY linear(though I could just be remembering it badly, because I do remember a little exploration, just not sure on how much), but I just really liked the design of the divide, like, alot, and the journey through it felt actually pretty comfy. LR is linear. It's sort of the point. I personally dislike dlc that do nothing but give you more random shit to explore. I like that Dead Money and Lonesome Road tried something very different, and those dlcs are all the better for it.

Point Lookout was alright. I don't think the soldier part is really the issue, I'd say the bigger problem is that you have a family. Your character is necessarily constrained in that their priorities are set: You want to find your son. In comparison, in the initial hours of New Vegas you can explicitly establish a desire to find and kill Benny, or you can play with other motives. Maybe you're just a really passionate mailman who really wants whatever he was supposed to deliver back. You don't have that freedom in 4.
>>
It sucks when you realize that all the dlcs except for lonesome road are literally fetch quests, except for the last quest. Bring me pre-war tech, bring me personality holotapes, bring me 3 followers then look for them in a casino.
I think Honest Hearts is the best one, Joshua makes up for the sub-par quests and the catharsis is really satisfied.
OWB was way too quippy and scavenging for tapes got old reaallly fast. I liked Mobius and the Think Tank's pre war houses, though.
Lonesome Road was really confusing even after talking to Ulysses, if you don't spend all the time looking for his memoirs it makes no sense and even after finding you have to connect a lot of dots. Like there was any way of knowing you were responsible for blowing up a region. I also think that it would've been the hardest one to get through if I hadn't cheesed it with my minigun.
Dead Money punished exploration and no matter how many >muh casual filter replies I get, the unkillable beeping machines and smoke were annoying as fuck. The only redeeming thing was Deano, whom I love to this day. All the other characters are overrated. Also how the fuck did Christie keep her gear?

I remember some details of the sierra madre fondly, but it makes every single level design error that is possible for a designer to make

darkness
mazy
concealed traps
poison areas
'find the tiny lethal thing'
arbitrary ambushes
bullet sponges

I'm probably forgetting a few too, sierra madre was the worst that fallout has ever been at FPS mechanics
>>
>>388923154
>bullet sponges
they literally tell you to melee them
>arbitrary ambushes
where?
>poison areas
specifically there to either deny space in a fighting area or as risk to obtain a reward
>concealed traps
where? Hard to see I'll grant you, but not concealed. That's more a fault of aesthetics than gameplay.
>mazy
Taking any one path usually leads you in the direction you want to go. Very little of it is at all like a maze.
>darkness
Again, an aesthetic mistake, not really a gameplay one.

The one thing I will grant you is finding the tiny sound traps before your collar explodes. That was pure trial and error.

All of that said, I really liked DM the second time I played it, but I despised it the first time.

I used to think it was good but then I found it tedious.
It tries to be a survival horror simulator but horribly fails at it. You don't really have to be careful to survive, nor there is resource scarcity, because you are showered in chips which you can turn in to receive unlimited ammo and stimpaks. With all the rewards from vending machines, it sort of becomes a boring linear shooter.
>>
>>388923405
>specifically there to either deny space in a fighting area or as risk to obtain a reward
What rewards are you thinking about? It doesn't have the best weapons/armor and almost all the lore is fed to you by exposition dialogue, as opposed to owb where a lot of it was in computers, houses and flags placed by Ulysses.
At most, you're finding ammo or stimpaks which you wouldn't have needed if you didn't go through the trouble to get to them
>>

>>388919287
>My playthrough as a female legionnaire was the best experience I've had in this game.
My last playthrough was the same. Tell me about yours.
>>
>>388923972
If you're playing on survival you find food/water which is rare enough. If you're quick enough, the reward outweighs the penalty. You shouldn't get some unique grenade rifle or leather armor just for running through a toxic cloud for 5 seconds.

As to your point on lore: There are, in fact, a lot of computers in Dead Money that explain the origins of the area as a testing site for big MT. Because it's not as free and large of an area as Big MT, you get more lore through dialogure, but that makes sense: the characters you are talking to are directly important to your story, the story of the Sierra Madre, and the story of Father Elijah. It's not exposition if it's not given to you without inquiry- you literally have to go through the dialogue trees to find all the real lore behind these characters, which is particularly interesting to do in Christine's case.

Hell, I prefer getting lore through characters. The dialogue tree is underutilized in 3D Fallouts- knowing the right thing to say to receive more information is a skill on the part of the player, and the original Fallout games make great use of the system. Only Dead Money really sits on par with them in that regard (LR and some parts of New Vegas get close).
>>
>>388908410
I had much more trouble with Honest Hearts combat-wise.
>>
>>388924467
Well, in addition to the conversation you can have with Ulysses, about it, my favorite thing how the way the Leigon treats you as you rise up feels very different because they don't allot you the same privileges. For example, you can't fight in the arena, no matter how important you are to the Legion. A slave girl told me I should watch my back because the men were supposedly talking behind my back about what they could do to me. All of this made the victory over NCR at the end of the game sweeter- not because I proved that a woman could do the same job as a man or any bullshit like that, but because I proved to the Legion that, no matter how much they doubted me, I wasn't willing to give up their cause.

It was a subtle difference in most situations, but that feeling of progression felt more rewarding than usual. It was just fun.
>>
>>388924763
My female Courier was using the Legion as a tool of vengeance. She wanted to beat the NCR, and do it in a way that would hurt them immensely. She did like the Legion, because she came from a very violent background and in the Legion being a violent fuck was rewarded. She had the same mentality as Lanius in that she followed Caesar just because he gave her things to destroy and objectives to kill. The Legion's ideals were, for the most part, worthless to her. That's why she didn't really care about the way they treated women; they "deserved it for being so weak and useless".
This devotion to violence also led her to work with Graham out of respect for such a deadly man despite his past with the Legion.
>>
>>388924943
Mine also sided with Graham under the ideal that the strong must destroy the weak and band together. I definitely had her approach it from a more ideological standpoint, where her meeting with Vulpes just made everything click- this woman who sees NCR's rule being pushed on people and senseless death and debauchery around her at every turn decides that it's worth purging the wasteland of all of the people who only serve themselves and serve corruption- death for a purpose. The Legion's treatment of women didn't matter to her because, like you mentioned, it was about strength- she had nothing to fear because she was strong, and any lesser treatment was just as unimportant because the cause mattered too much.

My current guy was just a courier/gun for hire looking for some quick cash, and he is EXACTLY autistic but trying to be as fair as possible, i.e. doing 1 side quest for Legion for helping me kill Benny, helping guys who help me etc.
After delivering the chip and making bank at the casinos, the fucking idiot thought he'd actually find a resort at Sierra Madre. Whatever, after dealing with that and hearing about the Big MT and the other courier, went along and did the other dlcs looking for him.
He slowly grew from leather armor/gun for hire to expensive business suits/set for life careless vanity fag after delivering the chip, to anti-technology after owb, to less vanity ridden/anti-tribalism after honest hearts, to wearing the courier duster after LR, to eventually US Army General outfit at the battle for Hoover Dam, but unsure if I'm going with NCR or Yes Man.

I'd do NCR only for the quests which I've heard are the most interesting and I fear that the Yes-Man questline is too similar to House's, which I've already done.

I mean, I get it about letting go, but really? It's not like you can't get literally thousands of pre war moneys by turning in your sierra madre chips at the casino. Each chip is one stack of money, and that sells for up to 10 caps per piece, and is weightless.

This morning I was thinking about why Fallout 4 was so boring, and it me. It got stealth-SJW'd. Do you realize how many controversial elements are in that game that got completely ignored?

>slavery / slave trade
>sex slaves
>teenage sex slaves
>sex robots/synths
>prostitution
>drugs
>drug addiction
>drug smuggling
>drinking
>hired assassins
>exotic dancing
>pornography
>over-militarization

They put all these engaging elements (and a lot more) in this game, and completely ignore them instead of using them as a basis for interesting quests and story lines. The entire game is 1 big fucking SafeSpace that's made to feel like it's dangerous, but isn't.

>no children without guardians near by
>only child left unattended is a quest to return them to their parents.
>90% of the quests involve helping hobos and helpless women instead of joining with other capable people to achieve a goal.
>children act like they had a strict upbringing in only the finest British charm & beauty academies.

How fortunate for all these children in the untamed wasteland! And let's not get started on how there's all these women living alone on farms and shit with raiders 45 seconds to the east that miraculously don't abduct them as sex slaves. No, no. They just abduct them for fun. Then you have to go save them.

Absolutely fucking SJW'd,.

Literally none of those inconsequential narrative elements had anything to do with why the game was boring as shit and had shit gameplay. They literally stripped out all RPG elements and turned it into a boring open world loot shooter and slapped on an unnecessary voiced protagonist without any meaningful choices to make in dialogue or consequences that affect the world around you. There's a scripted scene where he sneaks behind one of those hostile NPCs (White Legs) and kills him (her?) to demonstrate that he's from another tribe.
