Marvel vs Capcom is completely different. A lot of the characters weren't just ripped out of recent releases. Plus there is a bigger ratio that appeals directly to Marvel fans. This game splits across 4 different franchises.

Only if they actually go the MvC route and make the game its own thing. If it is what people think and is a just a combination of everyone doing their own thing then its not really bringing anything new.
Going back to the MvC comparison, MvC doesn't play like street fighter, nor darkstalkers one bit, its just an extension of Xmen children of the atom. Captain Commando, Venom, Warmachine, Megaman, Jin were new characters and the other ones came from a very similar game Xmen vs Streetfighter and Xmen CotA.
