Someone make a Russian Overkill mod for Half Life 1.

There's some fans working on it, but they're using unreal engine and attempting to reprogram the whole game from scratch rather than use source. So yeah, it's gonna fail.

When the resigned head writer of the entire series write a slightly cryptic synopsis of the series he literally wrote from day one, including a very telling final paragraph calling out Valve's bullshit, it has a bit more gravitas than some random troll on /v/.

It was the death knell of Half Life. I suspected as much as soon as Laidlaw and a half dozen other tenured employees started leaving a few years ago, but this was official closure for me.

I've been seeing so many apologists coming out of the woodwork after the Laidlaw summary.

Valve stopped making so much as hints of HL's development at least 2 or 3 years ago, the last "leaks" from datamining happened around the same time.

It's been 10 fucking years since episode 3 was announced, it's been 13 since Half Life 2 released, and not so much as a teaser is out.

It's dead.

Half Life 2: Episode 3 is not happening.
Half Life 3 will eventually hapoen, and will have an original plot not associated with the leak that has been going around. That was for episode 3.

I like HL1 more because it has a less emphasis on story and more variety in weapons and enemies. HL2 is comparable but it has less interesting enemies and weapons plus Valve breaking the show don't tell rule all the time.

She doesn't seem the morally driven type, so I don't think she believes in either side. She probably cares most about her research and her friends and family. She'd doesn't see either side as totally wrong or totally right. However that doesn't explain why she'd betray the resistance once she's already put her hand in with them.

My first guess would be that Breen had leverage over her. Maybe a microexplosive behind the eye or maybe it was a progressive thing where she did a favor for Breen and the Combine and they used evidence of that collaboration as leverage to make her do worse stuff.

I wouldn't give up on the series without seeing the three new VR games. They can apperently simulate things like feeling of being on the edge of a high building or falling so I'm really looking forward to that.

1) Valve has made sure that every HL instalment has redefined the genre
2) Valve is putting a lot of resources into VR tech

TL;DR: Valve is developing new VR tech to make sure HL3 blows everyone's minds away, just like HL1 and HL2 did at the time.

Just beat Half Life 1 for the first time. Played Black Mesa up until the Xen, then switched to Source.

Were the Xen chapters rushed? Pacing felt way different and the level design seemed lacking
