>video games will never look this detailed in your lifetime or your children's lifetime
Why is the industry so far behind? How do we fix it?

Can you at least use a nice clear picture when you shitpost this and get the same replies over and over? Heres one from Vol 2
Well, first thing you do is finalize all quantum computing research.
Second is getting it ready at an engineering level.
And third is making it cheap enough so people at home can enjoy a sudden 300,000% increase in processing speed.
Well it's that or accept that images which have to be rendered real time on a home computer will never match up to pre-rendered animation using million dollar supercomputers.

kill all raccoons
>>388883692
unravel looks similar
Why do you expect video games, which are rendering in real time, would match a movie, which is not rendered in real time?
If anything it's pretty incredible how far video games have come in just 20 years
>>388883692
Console are slowing down the industry and gameplay.

>FFXV spec get leaked and requires a PC stronger than a toaster
>/v/ won't stop crying they won't be able to run the game

because if we start paying attention to physics my "consoles are destroying gaming" argument just falls to pieces
The industry isn't far behind. Pre-rendered will always look better than real-time. You're comparing two different things. It's like asking why a piece of art that took 5 years is better than a 10 minute sketch.

Who gives a shit
How can you give a shit
They look fine, they looked fine 20 years ago
How the fuck can anyone care about this
>>388884172
>>388883692
yeah but that movie is 60fps
so who cares
>>388885370
isn't*
fuck im tired
Honestly i dont think games need more than the current average graphics. gameplay story and sometimes even audio are more important

>How do we fix it?
we develop the technology required to render that in full time at 4k 60 FPS
I'll see you guys at the lab

movie budget: a billion dollars
vidya budget: 500,000,000 dollars
i'm exaggerating of course but yeah that's mostly it
movies have more people as well, i bet there were like 3 people assigned to each of rocket's whisker physics alone

because they have the look of a fox/cat and have the patterns of a dog, aesthetically they're very good looking pets even if illegal to own

Movie: Fixed camera and no AI or game mechanics
>Game: Can go everywhere and find flaws if the world doesn't make sense, have to handle NPC, collisions, dynamic weather and all that
>>388886910
AND most video games nowadays need to have acting/voiceacting
are video games more difficult to produce than (good) movies?
I'm starting to think big time yes
>>388886405
>>388887220
Fixed camera in a fixed environment makes wonder(That and sprites don't mix well with 3D camera)
That's why older video games used fixed camera a lot, same for God Of War.

I'm still upset that Delphox and Primarina look so pig disgusting while Braxen and Brionne are total qts.
With hair tech impoving we could get to comparable graphics(look alike) in maybe 25 years
>>388887850
>Brionne are total qts.
and theres always that gif
Alright motherfuckers I'm going to explain this for your retarded ass. Movies and the like are pre-rendered, and as long as whats on screen looks good, you can tack on as many bells and whistles as you want because in the end all you're making is a movie file. Rendering can take fucking ages for even a single frame because of things like realistic reflections and lighting and programs that exist just to make the fucking fur look good the producers know exactly what and where a movie is going to go so they only have to worry about certain angles looking good. A game has to render all that shit out at real time because they have no control over where the player goes. If a fuzzy character moves, it has to render how that hair moves in real time. If a character moves closer to a shiny wall, the changes in reflection have to be handled in real time. There isn't a fucking rig on the planet that can handle all of that shit on a moments notice AND keep the frames stable and the game still running. Movies have to render for MONTHS just to look as good as they do, you need MILLISECONDS rendering to get all that shit out at a decent pace for a game.
>>388888036
Look at it. The tiny fang, the frilly white dress, the massive aquatic mammal cock, everything about Brionne is cute!
