There is no way to do the schmup sections in W101 faster you mong, the whole thing is on rails. Or in Baldur's Gate 2, the first dungeon is super easy, but it has a lot of items you can use later in the game, and the walk speed is very slow, so it's just a tedious slog to get through if you want some of the gear and items for future quests that you can miss out on if you don't explore the whole dungeon.

The more I played the less those post-Anor Londo areas bothered me. They are a big step down but at least they're short. Shortcut or no you should be able to advance in that part of the game fairly easily and quickly.

DOOM 4's most fatal flaw was replacing quicksaves with a checkpoint system. Combining that with bullet sponge bosses that wait until their bar is near the end to asspull a bullshit attack that spikes the difficulty like rubbing alcohol is a facefuck full of potential tedium compared to the old FPS method that went much more smoothly.
