Prime was the worst thing that happened to the series. Its atmosphere was literally all it had going for it.

At least we have Fusion that might potentially give us a breath of fresh air. Hell, for all we know this could be even more non-linear than Super Metroid. Lack of story focus is the best, and I bet this is going to be even better in that regard.
