Props to the game for actually giving me stress with its stress mechanic. It just seems like you have 10% of the control you'd have in other similar games.
Otherwise, everything else is great.

Someone should add the new narration lines from the dlc to this.

You should expect the worst. Such as spider ambushes. Or treebranch crits. Or collector spawns on an antiquarian run.
The best way to avoid such bad luck is to put a torch in the orb when you find one. It summons a creature of great luck and can give you items to carry you through the game.

The man who went off to war never came back..
Guys, what's better, Radiant or Darkest?
>>388861693
Darkest is the way the game was desgined to be played. Radiant allows your higher level guys to do lower level shit, and allows you to recruit up to level 4 people from the stage coach. It also allows heroes who have done a Darkest Dungeon run to re-enter the place, where normally they will never go back in.
How do I kill the 8mm Cannon?
>>388854886
Wow. I don't think I've ever been that mad at any game. Darkest dungeon is fun but I play it on my ipad when i have time to burn.
Dude has issues.
>>388861990
How would you rate the changes, is it for the better or the worst?
>>388862130
Bring a graverobber to kill the matchman at the start of every round. Whittle away the cannon with whoever else.
>>388855834
Darkest if you don't want to play easy mode like a child.
>>388854886
This is supposed to be an adult man?
>really cool first few hours
>incredibly frustrating next few hours
>figure out that the game is comically cheesable and that once you learn what to do losing is impossible
>40 hours of incredibly boring mindless slogging to the final dungeon
>getting incredible fucking mad when you learn the gimmick of the final dungeon
>more grinding
>realize final dungeon is actually easy and cheese it too
>>388862365
It's a bit easier if you feel like playing a shorter campaign. In addition to all those, your XP to level is reduced, upgrade costs for skills and weapons are lower, and your bonuses from using torchlight are increased. It takes the stress out of the game mostly, I think, and to me not quite as fun as a Darkest run. I would recommend giving Darkest a try and then seeing if you want to switch to Radiant instead.
>>388855102
Always attack the back row first. Focus them down. Make sure your party has abilities to reshuffle themselves. The only thing that matters is big damage.
>>388862701
Can anybody confirm or is this just someone trying to be contrarian?
>>388855834
>playing on R*ddit mode
darkest all the way baby
you'll feel better about it in the long run
>>388863332
It reads like someone who doesn't like video games. There is nothing from stopping you from going to the Darkest Dungeon at any time, except of course, your own skill in surviving. You don't have to beat all the bosses unless you want to, though there are great rewards for doing so.
>>388863332
It is fairly accurate. What matters is whether you enjoy the grinding or not. Do you enjoy the mechanics of the gameplay or do you just want to finish the game.
There is no lose condition unless you play on Stygian(?) difficulty.
>>388863932
Stygian has 12 death and 85 week limit. The DLC also added Bloodmoon, which bumps it up to 100 weeks and 16 deaths.
>>388862701
>>388863932
samefag
>>388863332
It's pretty much accurate. After you clear the first tier of dungeons you've seen 90% of the game already, the rest is just traversing the same boring maps with level scaled enemies and maybe one more unique mechanic until the DD, and the DD is just a stat wall to make sure that you've been grinding four (4) whole teams for 40 hours in the samey shit dungeons.
>>388860951
so he left again?
>>388865717
Why do people like it then?
>>388863460
So you like grinding?
>>388865717
This is basically it. The game is fun until you reach the Veteran missions and then you realize that the harder dungeons only add in a couple of new enemies while all the old enemies stay exactly the same as well as your heroes.
The game is too long and repetitive. It would be ideal if your heroes looked different or were able to acquire new skills when they level up, instead of just being able to get a flat percentage bonus to their skills or stats through upgrades.
>>388866213
Because your actions are unique, even if they don't look like it, the way you play and how you progress is also unique, people finish the game in very different ways for a game with few choices.
It also feels good to git gud, and on the highest difficulties it can become a serious challenge at some points even if you cheese.
Some people also like the grind, you get better items, better roster, you start to put 1 and 1 together, suddenly your guys are on steroids abusing stats, bonuses and combos.
You're still grinding on generated maps, so you get slightly different stuff, items, enemies(or locations) every time.
Plus its small game you can keep minimized while doing other stuff and interruptions don't it.
>>388860951
war changes a man, that's for sure. especially crusades. shit was fucked up
I love this game. Here's my quick tips:
>Upgrade your hamlets cost effectiveness over everything else
>build a bank asap
>Equip accuracy trinkets on all damage dealers
>Grab Martyrs Seals for your squishy characters, one of the best trinkets ingame
>Fuck the Jester
>Get Hellions galore
>>388854886
>jester against necromancer
>bounty hunter without mark party
>3 party members
>doesn't retreat
>loses another one
>doesn't retreat

Flagellant is the ultimate martyr. I feel so bad when my flagellants die because they carry so hard.
i dont have the dlc is it still worth playing? i stopped playing shadowrun returns because i didnt have dragonfall..
>Have to have a leper in the red variant named Scolland in every run I do ever since I scrolled back on the reports on a 300+ week save and realized he's been doing shit since week fucking 2
anybody else do shit like this.
>>388854683
Novelty expires in like 2 hours. Once you open everything you realize it's EVERYTHING this game has to offer and rest of the game becomes mindless busy work that feel like chores with getting screwed over by RNG from time to time.
For the most of the time you will have zero problems by just always having at least 2 healers on a team.
>>388854683
INvesting about 20 hours in building up several rosters for redundancy, then taking a level 4 dungeon with your decked out level 6 team that cover each other in every position with attacks that reposition them advantageously and still wiping to a boss. Then never playing again.
Enjoy.
>>388867856
Once you get into the game a bit it becomes fun as fuck. You'll either get gud and learn to master every region and challenge.
Or you'll lose everyone because you forgot to bring shovels or food.
>>388867856

Those without the stomach for this place must move on.
The front line of this war is not in the dungeon, but rather, inside the mind. They must learn more than brutal bloodletting; they must learn to survive. In the end, every plan relies upon a strong arm, and tempered steel.
Trouble yourself not with the cost of this crusade; its noble end affords you broad tolerance in your choice of means. Carelessness will find no clemency in this place. Packs laden with loot are often low on supplies. Death waits for the slightest lapse in concentration.
Suffer not the lame horse, nor the broken man. The task ahead is terrible, and weakness cannot be tolerated. A wise general cuts losses, and regroups.
Failure tests the mettle of heart, brain, and body. Great adversity has a beauty; it is the fire that tempers the blade. We fall so that we may learn to pick ourselves up once again.
These nightmarish creatures can be felled, they can be beaten. Prodigious size alone does not dissuade the sharpened blade. Seize this momentum! Push on to the task's end!
But above all else,
Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
>>388868698
get book of rage and an occultist as a healer
you constantly change skills depending on his hp
Punish, Rain of Sorrows, Exsanguinate and Redeem are my regular skills
Get suffer on high bleed dungeons, just try to keep him low, but not too low unless you are ready to fuck shit up.
Eat bleeds caused by wyr's healing thingy and enemies and just keep applying bleeds to everything and try to never overkill with ticks application.
>>388869418
