Imperials were never really good, but Oblivion didn't do them any favours, and completely ignored the Colovian/Nibenean divide.

I personally tend to play either Dunmer, Argonian or Breton.

Besides generic bandits HOW DOES IT FEEL TO KNOW DEATH IS NEAR and the dickish Guildmaster of the Fighters Guild in Morrowind, they seemed like a fun people. Yeah, they are more rowdy and drunken than the stuck-up Imperials, hence some of the dialog in Bruma, but given the widespread use of Moonsugar and Skooma in the setting, there's a lot worse around.

I just wish Bethesda embraced the over-the-top nature of both Skyrim as the land and the Nords, rather than making them bland as fuck.

They worshiped them for generations, which was why they split from the aldmer in ancient times. Nerevar was devout daedra worshiper. Tribunal betrayed him to use the heart of lorkhan to achieve divinity themselves. Obviously this was an affront to those daedra as a whole race of elves worshiping them was the only thing legitimizing their deity status. They got cursed and changed from the Chimer to the Dunmer.

When Nerevarine removes the tribunal from power, it creates a power vacuum. Dunmer had no choice but to worship their true gods once again. It just makes sense. Their entire society has always been heretical by nature. Their core values under the Tribunal were always the same as when they worshiped Asura, Boethiah, and Mephala.

also, IIRC each member of the Tribunal claimed an aspect of one of the three daedra and that they gained their divinity from the Daedra. They were never forthcoming with how they did it and the curse was just something that kinda happened. Hence the entire game is about discovering the conspiracy and how they killed Nerevar.

Just started playing ESO with the pinkiller mod so there are no quest markers on the map, compass or in the world. Also got the true exploration mod that makes the maps have a FoW until you explore them, it's the only way to go
