There's something to be said for a game, or anything really, that everybody likes. We all liked Skyrim when it came out, and since it surely didn't grow worse over time, we have to admit to that any change in how we thought about it is entirely on us.

For my part, I think that there was a creeping regret among people who had played previous games and therefore had different expectations and hopes for Skyrim or Fallout. But there's no denying that we've all had fun with them anyway. There's also no denying that its crossover popularity hurt our opinion of it over time, but probably only around the point we were growing bored with it.

I noticed that once I wasn't playing with friends as much, games like this lost some of their appeal. Being in the same age bracket as a lot of you I'm willing to bet that lots of you also drifted away from game buddies in this span of time, so in a way, there's probably some jealousy about social gamers having the kind of dumb fun that we used to have more easily.
