There's just something about it that's boring.

Music is pleasant, to be sure, but I don't know why people jerk themselves over it.

My biggest gripe with it holds over from Metroid, which is the whole "you can't go to ALL THESE FUCKING PLACES until you beat these bosses for upgrades". I'd like a game where your progression and traversing abilities are only limited to skill mastery. If going anywhere means having to beat a fuckhard boss right away then go ahead, I like a challenge.

A meme that would have never gotten popular if it wasn't for the artstyle.

I remember difficulty, tediousness of exploration and how certain movements were performed as main issues, I also remember playing it for 4 hours always thinking it would get good at some point and that just not happening at any point.

And before retardation begins, I don't mean "difficulty" as an issue because it's "too hard", on the other hand I felt it was WAY too damn easy unless you got caught off-guard the first time a boss does an attack, since they aren't intuitive at all

Map feels far too huge for no reason making traveling a bore. I mean, sections of the maps are far too wide or huge, and it's filled with nothingness most of the time.
Health system is too forgiving.
Too many enemies are too vulnerable to the jump attack downward and can't really retaliate.
Most boss fights are pretty mediocre, some are great though.

Overall it's a decent game, but it could have been far better too.

Once I picked up the map and saw the rest my motivation went to shit because having to go through most of the areas isn't very fun after one or two times going through it again. If I had gotten it earlier and it had always been available at the map shop, I would have been way more open to getting it.

A lot of the secret bosses are secret and have no real lore relations that really makes them not important at all. You don't care about them at all and so trying to find them all by combing every part of the areas once you have all the mobility options is just really fucking boring and a slog to go through.

Bosses in general are also really easy. More of them could have been more difficult.

The colosseum of fools was only difficult at the end because of the retarded spike placement rounds. Holy shit it was awful.

Early on I started making tons of money and once I had bought out all the items, there was nothing left for me to really spend it on. Even on the rest of the charms I just ended up with so much money. Having everything open at once would have been best.

It would have been nice for more people to move back to town after meeting them the first time like with the main item seller.

I wish there was an option for current map objectives to appear on the entire map even if you haven't found them (ala blue bugs, the ghosts, essence trees, etc) and to appear only on what you've discovered.

Overall the game was great but there could have been some improvements.

That would have helped the combat a lot honestly. Just some small variety like a big weapon that has better range and does more damage but swings much slower, or a boomerang weapon, just a few things you could switch between mid combat would have been great. Genuine complaints:

Default hit-stun is way too much especially where you get double-tapped into pits.

Pit respawn points are mostly fine but sometimes they do very weird things and you get spawned half a screen away.

Having every enemy doing damage upon contact manifests as more of an outdated mechanic than actually being a fair part of the combat. Bosses and huge enemies swing their big weapons around but they do the same damage swinging a literal club at you as you lightly brushing next to them.

This is particularly annoying when enemies hurt you, fly directly inside your hitbox where you can no longer attack them, then you get damaged again because they touched you. Combined with the above points it makes combat a chore sometimes, because it's tight and solid yet any sort of flow is easily broken apart by cheap shots.

Some parts of the game are just not tested, or if they are intentional then they're just artificial difficulty. A specific example is at the Kingdom's Edge where you have to avoid a jumping enemy on a room full of spikes - if you hit the spikes you re-appear at the set point, the enemy then homes on to that point whilst you re-spawn, then the moment your i-frames wear off and you appear it damages you and sends you into spikes, causing a silly loop - said room is also really hard to get out of.

Lots of redundant or boring charms, or the fun ones are too expensive on notches to be worth using over something else.

Otherwise it's a fucking dope as fuck game and it does exploration, it's main theme, super goddamn well. Can't recommend it enough.
